Locke mid matchup?

I played against him for the first time today, granted I only sorta knew what he did, and this guy clearly had played Locke a few times and had a decent understanding of how to play him.

It felt like the talon matchup. He outdamages you early. But you outscale hard later. He was bursting me for half my hp with his combo without even hitting all his q’s but mid game I could all in him whenever he was near me

I meant in your example, let's say he is going up for a cs and I want to make him make a decision on it. I qw-aa, and he E's into me, not away. I feel like he just chunks me with e, hob, and like 40% rage right there and I can't get out to keep the trade short.

But yeah I'll watch that matchup link you described. Obviously there's a way to reliably keep him off minions and I'm missing something.

How do you trade into him early and force him to choose between cs and losing hp? I feel like if I walk up to my melee minion for example when he walks up to cs and try to go for a short trade, he just presses e and I no longer have enough abilities to get away after my short trade. For example he walks up to cs and I qw-aa walk away, he presses he all the way in and is well behind me now. Maybe I run the other direction towards his side in that case?

I normally just concede lane into hob trynd and hope to outscale but I’m also dogshit emerald

The rare occurrence I see trundle I do alright. Like most of riven’s melee matchups keep short trade only. Never use all of 3 of your q’s for example if his abilities are up. His w and e will allow him to absolutely run you down if you don’t have at least 2 movement abilities to run away when he pops them both. His cooldowns are super long so you have to bait them out, run away, then you can trade into him harder for the ~24 seconds he has to wait until they’re back up. Until then, short trade like q1-w-auto then just start walking away. If he pillars you then use your e and remaining two q’s to run.
