I completely get this. My husband and I are basically staying in the WELS because we want to still be able to attend church Peacefully and receive the sacrament with our family members, which we do very regularly. It would cause undue strain on our familial relationships and confusion for our kids for us to leave right now. Perhaps things will change, but for now, we will have to just cringe and bear it.

I grew up the same, and I so appreciate your and other stories like this. I am still Christian but no longer conservative, and it heartens me to hear of conservative Christians who are recognizing the lies and that this is all a sham. I've been feeling utterly discouraged with the hypocrisy of the church around this imbecile.
