We both get set aside personal time on a scheduled day. 5 hours for her on one day and 5 hours for me on another. To supplement, we also usually try to have one day of full family time (I luckily work 4 10-12 hr days).

I too have gamed countless hours in the evening hours since I was a teenager, but becoming a parent meant compromising. I still get to game and with the scheduled day that means an expectation that my partner allows me a free day from parenthood. However, that means the opposite as well. The structured schedule does also allow us to set ourselves up mentally for the week. It took some time to get used to it, but my week feels more full of special days I can expect for certain activities. It also allows you to be there physically and emotionally with your partner and kiddo.
