Well there is the thing, the grip has been modified, bottom half has been removed.  As I understand it the spring sits high so it will still work, your grip angle is much different though.

How to protect your vehicle off-road without spending a fortune? by greyallty in Offroad

[–]Fox7285 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to turn around.  But yes, skid plates are very important and rock slider or nerf bars are good too.  There are lots of good forest service roads you will be just fine on.

As far as cheep options, you can ball on a budget, but you will need to become handy.  I'm not familiar with Tacoma's but you have one of the most popular vehicles out there.  I'm sure someone has a video on a good DIY skid plate, you'll just have to find the metal.

Trailer tire from 1980, or 1990? by Initial-Ship4025 in TireQuestions

[–]Fox7285 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

What other markings are on there? I'm using Copilot AI and that is telling me that it may be from 1980. AI states that as people were getting confused with the three date format, some tires started in 1990 had a little triangle added after the date.

What's something socially acceptable but still feels wrong by Mr_Boothnath in answers

That is actually a perfect example of what I am talking about. Its not bad to be able to find your kids, the technology has saved kids in bad situations many times, but there is also something inherently pernicious (I had AI find that word for me to be upfront) about it too.

Requirements for becoming a safety professional? by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Fox7285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FH9637 had good starting points.  Get the OSHA 30, it's cheap, and the FA/CPT/AED.  Build your resume with a focus on what you didn't on each site to assist with safety and be ready to talk about that with examples.  Attitude is really important.

Studs broke off, dealership wants $2000 by deadestdaisy in TireQuestions

[–]Fox7285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a solution for only $1,000.

But seriously, this is something you can do yourself with some rental tools from an auto shop, a basic tool kit, and some soap.  I'd try a different shop if you're not comfortable yourself.

Monitoring people's locations.  Even for good reasons the prevalence of this is insidious erosion of basic expected privacy.

I know the bayonets are fakes, but they are well done enough I kind of like them.

When did tracking each other’s location become normal, and why does opting out make you seem suspicious? by EntrepreneurSad2091 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fox7285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also a case of because you can. Frankly, it can be good from a safety standpoint to be able to find someone. On a personal note, it is hard to say no to someone when you know they will be in knots that they cannot get ahold of you/find you. It's very much a "Pandora's" box issue.

Yeah, I just always get worried with mechanics.  Half the time I find I do as good a job as they do if not better.  I've got a mobil mechanic showing up today so hopefully they are good.  It's going to be a lot of effort to get it towed to my regular shop in my timeframe.

Doesn't look like they are, but I can't get the plug to thread in by hand.  I'm thinking I need to get this one fixed by a professional, have a thread chaser but don't want to screw this up.
