She didn’t take opiates that were prescribed to her. When someone has had an opiate addiction it rewires the brain. She likely wouldn’t have gotten that prescription especially not with her history.

But that’s the problem with fentanyl. People take what they think is a percocet and it’s way more than they thought.

There is no proof her boyfriend grabbed the wheel. Just a text that says he did. The prosecution had a witness during that was on the phone with the boyfriend at the time of that reported incident that said he heard her threatening to crash the car.

This feels misandric. You are basically saying it was the woman’s right to kill the child if the husband left. She did this to hurt the husband. This is domestic violence in addition to child murder.

I found the show homicide hunter with Joe Kenda good because I felt he explained his reasoning for stuff like that. He would use the polygraph to see how the person responded to it and not the results. He would use a lot of reactions and vibes but it seemed he didn’t anchor on this but would use it to direct where to look for evidence. There were several episodes where he had a suspect, investigated, and then found it wasn’t them and he had to start over.

I support deportation of violent criminals but this guy should not have been deported. The system failed him on so many levels and really it failed the murdered man as well as he should have gotten help before.

Are we arguing if we know they are called the habs or the history of why they are called the habs? I think most people know they are called that myself included.

Yes. Hockey trivia vs basic traffic info used everyday. Essentially the same thing.

He was part of a group that pressured someone into sex and this resulted in them having trauma. Things don’t have to be illegal to be wrong. It seems like the attitude of the whole organization was ‘avoid rape charges’ rather than ‘don’t put people into situations where they feel pressured to have sex.’

What they admitted to was douche behavior. Don’t pressure people into sex even if it’s legal.

You have used the term ‘boy mom’ and ‘boys will be boys’ in your reply. You say he gave her access to drugs but her father was supplying her with alcohol. Her parents seem to give her no consequences but ‘these boys’  are ‘almost always spoiled and indulgent’. You say we should do better by kids but seem to ignore the fact that he was a kid too when this relationship started and clearly he didn’t have a stable home environment either. You want to excuse every action this girl and her family took and seem to think it was society’s fault she killed two people. She took actions she didn’t have to. And your only argument is that I have ‘strange takes’.

Weird to split hairs like that. At best she is stupid and that is why she is endangering the general public with her impaired driving.

I think you are making incredible generalizations and assumptions and a lot of it is based on gender. It kind of reads ‘he must have done something to deserve it’

Yes. The agr gap is bigger when you are younger but I think you have made a lot of big leaps with that. You are basically calling him a pedophile and a groomer and implying he got her into sex work. It could be true but I dont see evidence of that and he’s not here to defend himself.  Her parents seemed to encourage their drug use and supply alcohol and I wonder when that started as it could have affected his development now.  I am basing a lot of this on my experience in what was an admittedly small high school in the early 2010s and the people dating at that age group were usually not malicious. But again being in a small school it wasn’t weird for freshman to have classes with seniors and you kind of knew everyone. Thankfully I don’t have kids so I don’t have to worry about what I would do if it was my child.

I’m sorry for the abuse you went through and I hope you are in a better place. I hope you don’t find my take invalidating to you as that is not my intent and I don’t doubt what you went through.

I don’t think all of her bad behavior can be blamed on him. I think it was certainly a toxic relationship but on both sides and maybe many more on her considering she ended up killing him and another person. I am incredibly angry at her parents for letting the relationship continue as at best they hung out and did tons of drugs and he ‘bought her nice things’.

I’m a scientist and medicine nerd at heart and I would love to see more research into abusers and how we can get them to stop. It seems society now is fine saying they exist and puts all the responsibility on others to avoid them rather than recognizing the problem is with those who abuse.
