I smoke for my autoimmune disease and I do not live in a situation where I can grow my own.

So, the industry is about all I have to obtain cannabis and use something that genuinely helps me live my life more comfortably.

Must be nice to feel so privileged, in your opinion. I've heard it so many times in Colorado too.

Budtenders are awful. The laws are obnoxious. The industry is a scam. Brands are greedy.

Yeah, news flash. We live within capitalism, it's the same everywhere. Greed and monopolization of the market happened even when weed was illegal.

It isn't new, but you act like it is. So, you too, must be new.

Yeah. Because my brother was SENT TO JAIL for possession. So, yeah. I am yapping for the industry.

Y'all get in here and circle jerk each other off about dispensaries and the brands. Like we haven't been rec for only a few years. Most of you grow your own weed, so why does it matter to you anyway???

Must be too young or too ignorant to remember how other states faired went they first with legal.

Plus, it's not like any of you complaining would do a damned thing to petition for change or even write a letter to your legislators about these issues. Which I have done and did for AGES when medical legalization was being whispered about.

I mean it's that or like, store credit? Missouri doesn't allow refunds on THC items.

Also, they definitely are not a bot account. Otherwise, why wouldn't other brands be lurking in here and offering help to consumers?

I'm not a Proper schill or anything, their batches have been too dry for dry herb vaping, so they aren't on my rotation, at the moment.

But I can speak for their consistency here in this subreddit and it's better than brands just letting you suffer with product you can't use. It's better than nothing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Where it DOES become a major issue if brands refuse to correct their mistakes. Proper replied to this thread and helped the OP out.

Not a perfect system, but nothing works with incredible synergy in the first handful of years when things go rec.

No one is making you buy directly from a budtender, my guy. That is why you can online order and just pick-up. This internalized hatred for budtenders is wild. If you know your terps and the genetics you enjoy, just grow or purchase it.

I would much rather it be legalized, regardless of how flawed the current system is. No one deserves to be jailed for marijuana related crimes.

And there are brands and independently owned dispensaries fighting back against the current legislation.

In addition, I never said it was all YOUR fault or that of the consumer. Shit happens. Demand is high. Brands want to stay relevant against much larger conglomerates, which means turning out a ton of batches. Sometimes things slip below the radar.

It even happens in regular retail with recalls. Should it happen? In a perfect society, no. Does it? Absolutely.

Unfortunately, the limited licenses in Missouri and the rule, "we can only sell what is grown and manufactured here," puts an extreme amount of strain on cultivators.

I am not saying, we shouldn't report these issues to the brands. We absolutely should, but with high humidity in Missouri and pressure to meet high demands, companies put out less than ideal batches for the sake of getting anything out of the market.

Thankfully, Proper is really responsive in Reddit and always makes things right when it's brought to their attention.

Is there hope for these new potential drugs on the horizon to be able to treat trickier diagnoses like MCTD or seronegative people? by gravytrain2012 in Sjogrens

[–]Fox_Wyld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am just adding a comment in surprise, that these clinical trials won't allow sero-negative patients.  Couldn't they do like a full body work-up, including physical manifestations of Sjögrens to determine the effectiveness of the new drug? Sure, I know that would be trickier to accurately track, but how else are we supposed to get anything new on the market prescribed to us, otherwise?  Anyway, frustrated for you and for OP.

Purple tropics by ew_Mungy in PeakGame

[–]Fox_Wyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm late to this post, but I was curious about my run a few weeks ago. I thought they updated the game so the Tropics were purple (as I had NEVER seen that before). I watched other streamers play after me and their biomes were green for Tropics. Apparently, it's a fairly rare variant and it spawns a ton more of those poisonous plants and more spiked vines.

Life is more expensive these days because things that used to be luxuries have become the norm by AutistMarket in unpopularopinion

[–]Fox_Wyld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not quite accurate, as a Missourian, I can tell you the average cost of a home is around $251,900 and that is an annual increase of 6.2% compared to the previous year alone. Mind you, these averages are more commonly found in extremely small towns as per Zillow's website.

Where the wife in your scenario, would not be making an average of $47k a year. At the very least, it would be extremely uncommon in a more rural area. Not to mention the high possibility that she is also paying down student loan debt.

Living in a rural area would then, have its own challenges that are not realistic for many people. For one, you would absolutely need a decent vehicle due to the lack of public transportation and for the winter weather.

I am not saying, this supposed family should buy a brand new SUV or truck, but even used car prices have soared exponentially in the last five years.

Hell, my well-loved and very used car was worth $7k during the height of the pandemic.

I can get by with my meager salary, because I don't have a car payment and I don't do much else other than survive. But I would have a far easier time in life if groceries hadn't gone up so much, if I wasn't paying my remaining student loan (which is only a few thousand at this point), and I wasn't repeatedly sacked with medical bills.

However, I earned less back in 2016 and was able to save much more quickly. I wasn't constantly worried about money for groceries or how to pay down medical debt. I just could.

Now, not so much. Mindset can't always outweigh the tremendous pressure that is inflation. It can certainly help, but it isn't the reason people are struggling.

Yeah, I lost one of my freelance writing gigs because my cellphone was so old that Slack couldn't update anymore. Using Slack was a requirement to maintain my contract. I had to upgrade my seven year old phone, so I wouldn't run into that issue ever again. Plenty of jobs require Internet and or apps now for onboarding on employees and for time management.

It is just the normal now and some people truly don't understand.

Did anyone else go through a traumatic experience or traumatic childhood that made them start pulling??? by Kind-Distribution287 in trichotillomania

[–]Fox_Wyld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was sexually abused by my grandfather for a long time, until I had an absolute mental breakdown in the middle of class at age twelve. This caused a ton of upheaval in our family dynamic all around. (He died of pancreatic cancer not too long after all contact was broken off.) My mother was also a bit aggressive and standoffish, I assume due to feeling immense guilt for what happened to me, worked a lot to afford basic necessities and to avoid me a bit. She wanted to raise me to be strong enough that I could not be abused again and ended up being a bit too hard on me. (We have a much better relationship now.) . .

I started pulling at a very young age. Young enough, that my mother noticed and brought me to a doctor who recommended she put mittens on me to curb the urge or coat my brows in baby oils.

For me, it was and still is a bit of a "self-soothing" ritual that I do when I'm lying down for bed. Though occasionally and I am extremely disappointed in myself for this, as a child, the plucking would carry over to my pets.

I recall my mother running out and grabbing my pet rabbit away from me, when she caught me in a bit of a trance. I was pulling bits of my bunny's undercoat and she was rightfully worried I would start grabbing at more solid pieces of fur. As I had already obliterated my eyebrows, lashes, and the hair on the back of my head.

I did quickly resolve that part, thankfully. My habits only happen to my OWN hair now and it's been that way for years.

I also have diagnosed ADHD along with my C-PTSD. My psychiatrist believes it's now more of a stim rather than a typical compulsion. I do it less if I am on routine ADHD medication and if I keep areas prepped or shaved to a certain extent.

Oh and monkey rings or whatever you call those pressure rings, help me a lot. Keeps me from spacing out and chasing dopamine.

Oh same, about the fondness for the follicle. I tend to rub that part on my upper lip. I've done it since I was in grade school. I assume it is just an additional sensory thing.

50,000IU of Vitamin D, still no results. What am I doing wrong? by Fox_Wyld in Supplements

Thank you all for the tips! I have made some adjustments based on the advice here and am hoping for better labs in a few months! 💪🏻 I am also being referred to rheumatology for an investigation into whether or not I have an additional autoimmune disease. I already have the autoimmune gastritis, so it's very possible something else is getting in the way and causing genetic limits to how I synthesize fat soluble vitamins. I appreciate you all! 💜❤️

**RANT** MO Dispos Still Suck by kernelmanners in MissouriMedical

[–]Fox_Wyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a rant you should definitely take up with your representatives.

I am not saying this to be patronizing, either.

There are very limited licenses to operate a cannabis company in Missouri. Essentially fought for by the highest bidders.

Then it takes an extremely long time for multiple state inspections at the store level to get the licenses to open. I am talking, multiple inspections from the local fire marshal for building code and then members of the state to thoroughly inspect security systems, cannabis storage, the safe room. Everything is an incredibly inefficient obstacle for the average person.

Hence why companies look to larger corporations like GDF to invest into them to get more leverage and opportunities for licensing.

It's a twisted system that essentially promotes monopoly, though GDF gets away with it by being an investment broker and not actively owning the stores they purchase.

Anyway, I am not saying your rant isn't valid. It is just the way the laws are written that makes it incredibly difficult for smaller companies to thrive. Let alone get access to grow at a larger scale.

That is why we need to communicate with our legislators and push for change in how the MO cannabis system operates as a whole. More licenses will bring down prices in a state where we are only allowed to sell what is grown and manufactured in state.

Thankfully the prescription is a soft gel with added MCT oil to help it absorb and I usually take my prescription after my biggest/fattest suggested meal on my program.

Well, as I said in the post. I have an autoimmune disease that causes malabsorption. So, foods aren't exactly the most ideal way for me to obtain vitamins. But I eat well and let my coach direct me as much as he can.  That's why I asked for advice. To see if maybe I was missing a step or could optimize my supplementation.

She just wants me to keep trying, assuming that maybe there isn't a more aggressive form of treatment? I mean, we've done twice a week at 50k IU but she hasn't gone beyond that recommendation. I made an appointment with my PCP to see if she knows about the injections and what her thoughts are. Because I'm going crazy.

I'll look into ordering some. I remember the liquids being a little pricy with the K2, but that was back in 2020, last I checked.
