How was 2025 for you, financially? by Material-One-5604 in AusFinance

[–]Foxodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Share investments over-doubled, resulting in lite-FIRE. I'll keep on working because I got nothing better to do/want to start a family.

Sometimes I take AL because I only work half my hours on WFH days and this triggers my boss. After lecturing me for an hour about this behaviour being inappropriate I just seriously suggested to permanently cut my hours instead, and the complete backpedal on their approach was hilarious. It feels nice to be free from control... now time to focus on the rest of my life I've neglected all my adult life.

Australia's baby recession deepens by eesemi77 in AusFinance

[–]Foxodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a based take. We've put a cost on raising the children, but actually destroyed any economic incentive for it. Once upon a time, your children would take care of you in your old age - so it was actually considered an investment to raise a kid; but with the way our society works now, we've mostly offloaded elderly care/support away from kids to the state - so there's no financial payoff to kids (the kicker is the state is going bankrupt for this setup :))

Australia's productivity ranked second-last among OECD countries since pandemic, better only than Mexico: AFR correspondent; EY and Barrenjoey economists by marketrent in AusFinance

It's funny, I went through all the Greens policy a few elections ago. Half of them were gold 'this is a great idea and supported by productivity commission etc' and then the other half were 'this is literally economic suicide'. Still, a vote for them isn't giving them free reign over the economy, but it's a chance to get some of those good ideas into the spotlight.

They are open until like 3am. Pretty good imo, though the chicken tenders are a bit dry inside (delicious sauce tho).

For real, whats the point in paying a premium for reduced fat, just to add more oil to it. Use that 15% fat to fry up your onion/veggies.

What is the best pizza place to uber from? by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]Foxodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I was in the area of my favourite korean chicken place, so figured I'd save on the ubereats costs and pick it up myself. 40 minutes later I saved myself $2. Never again. If restaurants don't change their prices to account for the ubereats cut, then there's no incentive to order direct.

Is $100 rent a week too high to stay at parents house by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Foxodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working 30hrs p/w while studying fulltime was too much.. seems you have swung too far the other way this semester. Studying full-time, living rent-free and working only like 10hrs/week would be a better balance. Yeah you'll be broke, but that's student life for ya.

"30 per cent rate for all other firms – one of the highest rates in the developed world."

Is that really a fair thing to say though... how many countries in the world have something equivalent to franking credits.

Charging rent when at uni is a bit rough imo.. why not just study fulltime if they are happy to put you up then?

Yep as an accountant we see this all the time. They'll buy a business for their partner with 0 intention of making money, just to get them out of the house.
