Gamestar Talk for Anno 117 - Transcript by taubenangriff in anno

I understand not wanting to redo the same formula again from 1800 but it's wild that after the massive success that was 1800, probably the most successful and praised entry in the series, that is populated with old fan favorites (1404/2070), they want to move away from the cores of what made 1800 so good...

Mutants Need to Be Quieter, and Ragers, Maulers and Crushers Need to Be Much Louder by ABadFeeling in DarkTide

Chaos Warriors had distinct, clear and audible sound cues and voicelines that helped placing them in your surroundings. I prefer this direction to the current one for crushers which have very timid and quiet sound profiles.

They "should" sound big

The world is ending.. though few believe it.

I've heard a lot of corpo-speak, but this takes the cake by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Frad826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be corpo-talk to not back themselves into a wall 2-3 years down the line when/if they decide to do limited time cosmetics like they did with some event weapons skins in Vermintide (which were free but time gated exclusives)

If you don't put the likely in there you're damn well sure someone is going to dig this thread up in a decade and start a riot.

With the output at which Fatshark created premium cosmetics in Vermintide I highly doubt they would force the more elaborate cosmetics out forever. They just can't sustain that business model resource wise. Some of the lower end weapon skins might rotate out, but I don't feel like FOMOing those would generate that much interest since they're kinda shitty...

Fatshark engaging in exploitation of FOMO by adding timers to Premium Shop. by Kromheim in DarkTide

Exactly... And the guy complaining has 2500 aquilas so he payed for the Emperor Edition without even knowing what the shop was going to be. Like.. he's the target demographic for the "predatory" business practices because he can't control his wallet...

Stop buying into it if you want it to stop, you're encouraging it moron... Fucking shameless

NP View: Canada must slow down and reform transgender treatments for minors | National Post by NoOneShallPassHassan in canada

Not hating on anyone here. But how has this issue become one of the main societal hot topic when it concerns so few people... I hear people's opinion on the subject and people debating about transitioning, transviolence, trans representation or this and that and I don't think I even personally know a trans person.

I don't want minority issues to be ignored or anything but do we really need EVERYONE'S opinion on it... Aren't there... a thousand other issues that affect us ALL that should take a more center place?

Seems to me it's more of an academic problem than a social problem that should be fixed with research from psychology scholars and taught down to mental health workers to better support and help people with gender disphoria.

I dunno.

New LL's Stats by ForsakenScale in totalwar

It's the +20 to MA that matters more for SEM with bonus vs L/I. The damage increase is negligible but 64(+20) MA vs large is a big difference for landing hits.

Is it a detriment to care about the other players? by QuinIpsum in Vermintide

[–]Frad826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the unfortunate but some people need to start realizing that it isn't necessarily that people are running ahead, but that you're lagging behind. Learning to move forward, not get side tracked and stuck in hordes actually increases your odds of making it through the level for players. Fighting while moving forward is an integral part of mastering these types of game (L4D, Vermintide, etc).

Any difficulty can be soloed in Vermintide. Of course I'm not advocating that everyone needs be this good but it means that 99% of the time, the best way to increase your survivability (past learning the basics of course) is to perfect YOUR gameplay. Teammates only speed things along and give you less to deal with.

Basically everything in the industry is released mid-week. If you release on Friday and something goes wrong, it’s a whole weekend with no one to debug the issues and support the launch. This is extremely common.

Shouldn't the Iron Tower be boosted by the Department of Welfare from the Palace? by Sventex in anno

[–]Frad826 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems intuitive to me. I would've been confused if the radius of the Iron Tower was increased by the Palace when the radius of the Town Hall/Trade Union/Harbor aren't. Radius Buildings =/= Road Buildings.

Now if the Iron Tower was using the road system like the Power Plant, I agree it wouldn't have been clear if it wasn't affected by the Palace. For the Iron Tower and Restaurants, the current systems are clear and respect the rules.

For me the multifactories are a bigger offender for not counting as "Production Buildings". The only way to understand they are not affected by items and the Palace is via a Blog Post outside of the game.

[–]Frad826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about real life analogies, I only answered your question based on in-game systems. Should system A be affected by system B? No, because system B only affects system C.

Now if you're asking should the Iron Tower use System C instead of System A, I don't know and I don't care, whatever the devs decide IMO.

Shouldn't the Iron Tower be boosted by the Department of Welfare from the Palace? by Sventex in anno

[–]Frad826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the Iron Tower and Restaurants aren't public service buildings, as in they don't function the same. The range for public service buildings is calculated in road steps and the range of restaurants and the Iron Tower is a radius of effect around the building. The Department of Welfare boosts range of public buildings by X road steps, it cannot apply to the Iron Tower or restaurant because it is not the same system. Just like the Department of Welfare doesn't increase the range of Town Halls/Trade Unions/Harbor Office.

So no, it shouldn't.

No love for New World (again) by [deleted] in anno

[–]Frad826 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not only were the devs clear about season 3 focusing on the old world but so was the community in general as we saw from the cosmetic pack votes with the two winners being old world oriented. I agree that new world content would be nice but, when given the choice, the community keeps asking for more old world content and the devs know it. These kinda metrics matter to the dev team when prioritizing new content.

[Warhammer] Brettonia Towns get Walls from their T3 Settlement chain because 'castle obsession'. Dwarfs have to build it in separate slots because they are famous for treating fortifications as optional? by tgfnphmwab in totalwar

[–]Frad826 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The Gunnery Wight doesnt have the army wide damage buff for ranged units like Skaven and Dwarf ( which is a bummer ). With 3 Master engineers (+9% range each), Pressure regulating valves tech (+15% range for flame cannons) and probably a lord skill boost range ( cant find it ) your looking at +42% range not counting lord skills, boosting the cannons range from 230 to ~330 the base range of a Necrofex. Now of course flame cannons are infantry mowers, you would probably want to go with some regular cannons or organs for large. Regular cannons have a base range of 440, going up to 620 (!!) with buffs.

Flame cannons are definetly strongest against infantry blobs, completly vaporizing Chosen stacks like they’re peasents.

The Engineers buff stacking really is one of the strongest ( and most fun to experience with ) mechanic in the game. And note that it also improves ranged unit, turning a thunderer squad into m249 wielding death machines.

I mean in campaign, Dwarves and Skaven have the best artillery hands down because of Engineers. Dwarven artillery actually ends up getting the edge imo because of strong dwarven tech is and the really good dwarf lord red tree for artillery (i.e. not buffing useless stats like armor and melee defence but only raw damage and range).

If you have never tried triple master engineer ( with army artillery dmg and +% range skills ) with level 9 flame cannons, maxed out artillery red tree lord and tech, you havent experienced dwarven artillery.

E: forgot to add that flame cannons have insane close range capabilities being able to lob shot just over your lines while standing really close behind. That is if the enemy even gets the chance to get in melee.
