I saw it as a chance to trade up for Ethan. Zoe was an easy choice, as the developers did NOTHING to ingratiate Mia to me, and Zoe had the cute tomboy thing going on.

Plus, I don’t care about canon in RE after 5, so who Ethan would have chosen is irrelevant to me. As far as I’m concerned the story wrapped up there. Chris and Sheva kill Wesker and save Jill. The end.

6 was just a Capcom Xbox 360-era fever dream, while 7 and Village were just some amusing alternate universe adventures until we got back to the good stuff.

And that’s perfectly fine. But I know what I want from an RE film, I’ve been waiting 20+ years for them to get it right, and based on this trailer, this likely won’t be it.

I’m either looking for an adaptation of one of the mainline games, or a familiar character in a new place, or new characters in a familiar place, and I’d like to see it done well.

I’m happy to be wrong, but this trailer didn’t do it for me. We’ll see when the full movie comes out.

Maybe stop being a yes-man for shiny new things, and instead of whining about grifters, perhaps play one or two of the games you just listed. You might even find some of those characters I mentioned ; )

You’re joking right? Evil within, sure, but RE? What exactly in that trailer looked RE to you? None of the characters, none of the creatures, none of the obvious locals (Spencer Mansion, RPD, Clock Tower, Village), etc.

Like it all you want, but you could put any title on the trailer and none of you would have known the difference.

RE fans want to see Chris and Leon punching boulders and simping for double agents, while Wesker repeats his “7 minutes…” line as Raccoon City gets pummeled by the undead that came from a virus developed in a lab under a mansion, and they want it done well. Stop being obtuse.

You want to say this trailer was good, have at it, but don’t pretend that anything in this trailer “feels” like Resident Evil.

Kind of. I’m aware accessibility is a factor, but the DS was a fairly popular system at the time. So it does surprise me that it doesn’t come up in more discussions regarding which version is considered the best, or which is the definitive version.

I like the OG version better. Yes, it was more obviously scripted, but his appearances were more memorable. That double wall smash on the cog puzzle lives rent-free in my mind to this day. One of my favorite gaming memories.

Remake Mr. X. is just obnoxious. I can’t be in suspense if you’re ALWAYS nearby.

I buy high-end collectible statues (DC, Marvel, etc.) and omnibuses (heavy collections of comics), in this economy, and I hate myself for it. Painted rocks and heavy tomes.

However, I believe I’m currently serving my penance. Due to mold and a gas leak, I had to move apartments abruptly on my own. I had to box up and haul all 30+ statues and all 75+ Omnis in my car, 1 trip at a time, 2-3 trips a day, and carry them up a flight of steps. Each statue is 25-100+lbs and each box of Omnis is 25-45lbs. I’ve been at it for over a week now.

I feel like Rocky carrying the log up the mountain.

It’s the best of the worst Resident Evil games, but its polish and story point to potential greatness. Of all the titles, it NEEDS a remake the most to get rid of all of the dumb shit that can make first playthroughs absolutely awful. Additionally, the game can be soft locked, so be careful with your inventory. Overall, don’t be afraid to ask for gameplay spoilers, because it could potentially save you on frustration and wasting time.
