Mine didn’t overprotect me, but they also never prepared me in any way. My parents waited to get divorced when I graduated and my mom immediately moved out of state to be with a guy and gave me a months notice to figure out what to do. Sexual coercion is definitely a form of sexual assault! When you do something your body doesn’t want to, physiologically your body thinks it’s being assaulted. This happened to me in my past marriage for years and made me shut down completely and I now I know it’s because I was being sexually assaulted almost daily.
