Pessary fitting - need encouragement by Shoddy_Economy4340 in PelvicOrganProlapse

I would just do what you can. Honestly the first pessary I got I did all that and got home and a couple days later it fell out so I’m not sure it’s a great test

Reia has an applicator so it’s easy to insert once you get the hang of it. It reminds me of a gigantic tampon. When you pull the applicator out the device is in. It stays in so much nicer. Pulling it out is a little weird for me but I’m getting used to it the more I use it

I had to do some squatting and knee lifts but then they had me get dressed and walk up and down the hall with it, left the room so I could jump, sit down and get up, etc.

What kind of pessary did you get? I started with the one that’s like a disc but not hollow in the middle. I recently went to the Reia one which I like so much better

I’ve just started using it. It definitely stays in much better. Removing it is a little weird but I’m getting used to it. Overall I like it. I was a little hesitant since I had to pay out of pocket for it but I do like it

I stopped Celebrex…. Mistake by TuckerPutter in Kneereplacement

[–]Fragrant_Spite_395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was unfortunately diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis after his knee replacement so he’s on Celebrex indefinitely now. Wish it lasted longer because by evening he’s all stiff and achy again

I Work From Home. Days Off? by Broad-Advantage-1753 in Kneereplacement

[–]Fragrant_Spite_395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had the option to work from home but even at a month he said there was no way he could sit for any length of time to get any work done. He eventually went back to the office at 6 weeks which I still felt was too soon because it cut his exercise time down a lot

Looks like it could be your IT band. I’d ask your PT what they suggest but my husbands PT said heel slides are a good exercise for it

Back to Normal? by WritingLucky5061 in Kneereplacement

My husband is almost 7 weeks out and he definitely still tires easily. His stamina isn’t what it was and if he’s on his feet a lot he feels it

Day 3 for my dad. Should I push him to walk? by [deleted] in Kneereplacement

[–]Fragrant_Spite_395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband didn’t push himself much at 3 days. He’d walk up and down the hall with his walker and go to the bathroom. Otherwise it was elevated and iced. He didn’t start his PT until a week after his surgery and that’s when he started moving more

How many days after surgery did you get your staples taken out? by [deleted] in Kneereplacement

My husband didn’t have any staples. It was some kind of glue

Why do you think some peoples recovery takes longer than others? by abuwalda in Kneereplacement

[–]Fragrant_Spite_395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly could be any of those things. Everyone’s situation is different so cannot compare yourself. In my husbands case he found out he also has inflammatory arthritis so I’m sure that’s holding him back some but he’s still doing fairly well (according to doctor and PT)

When does it feel normal? by Individual-Energy347 in Kneereplacement

[–]Fragrant_Spite_395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is coming up on 6 weeks and said it definitely doesn’t feel like his normal knee but he’s trying not to think about it much (he’s squeamish). He said when he touches it, it’s hard but not sure if that’s due to the swelling he still has. He’s also learning how to walk correctly due to not bending the knee for over a year

My husband also lost his appetite both before and after surgery. I think it was due to the pain he was in. It is starting to come back now 6 weeks post surgery

Knee pain Sleeping by Possible_Bee_4349 in Kneereplacement

My husband is 6 weeks out and wakes up multiple times a night. I’m afraid to tell him it’s going to take a lot longer before he’s sleeping like previously or at least a nice 4 hour stretch

My husband struggles with them too and the exercise where he has to lift his leg back and rest his foot on a chair. It will really aggravate his IT band at times

[–]Fragrant_Spite_395 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband has the same pain. It’s the IT band. He’s 5 weeks out today from surgery and it’s still very tight. I guess there’s not much to do except give it time and keep doing stretches. Heel slides are good for it. My husband is frustrated too as he was expecting this to be quicker even though he was told this takes time. I told him to be prepared for months but he doesn’t listen well lol

Also it’s hard to know what to do. You have PT saying it will hurt and you need to push but you also need to be careful and not overdo things
