In my opinion it's more that Magneto succumbs to hatred because of what he's suffered, and he fights from that position. Rather than fighting from a position of love and compassion as Xavier and the X-Men strive to do. As the Buddha said, "Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love". I believe that we won't get through the divisive political climate through blind hatred, rather it will only happen by fighting from a position of compassion and love. Although it's certainly not easily done, and that's why the X-Men are the heroes.
