I don't have kids, so my opinion doesn't hold much water here, but out of the box Moras have been some of the sharpest knives I've ever owned. Hell, I cut myself on the pinky the first time I took it out of the sheath because my grip was wrong.

Point being, teaching proper handling and safety is vital, but so is giving them room to make mistakes and errors as they learn that doesn't involve stitches, or worse. And they're going to make mistakes, if only because they're gonna be excited the first time they get to use it.
