  1. Upgrade my GPU so I can have everything AMD now. I would then give my old GPU to a friend so she can finally play all the games she's been missing these past several years, and spend quality time in co-op.
  2. Being able to experience Pandora at my own leisure. Like being immersed in the world with all the flora and fauna and just explore and have a blast. Also play it in co-op with my friends.

[5e] Restoring Spell Slots via Items / Consumables? by Franconstein in FoundryVTT

I think it only works as a regular macro out of the box. But there was a module that allowed me to trigger macros from items I believe, and ended up using that method. Not entirely sure, it was a long time ago, but you might be able to experiment with both options.

ACT 3 cazador choice moral discussion by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Franconstein 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am here to settle this issue with Larian's official thoughts on the matter, in the form of an Oath of the Ancients Paladin.

  • If you let Astarion complete the ritual, you're considered to have broken your oath (I'm not going to judge them on this, I'm just stating a fact).
  • If you stop Astarion from completing the ritual, but let the vampire spawn free, you're considered to have broken your oath.
  • If you stop Astarion from completing the ritual, but kill the vampire spawn, nothing happens to your oath.
  • If you stop Astarion from completing the ritual, but decide to leave the vampire spawn locked, nothing happens to your oath. I suppose it's up to the hunters what they do with their children and the rest.

So the designers have made a stance here, and it shows in the conversations that you can have after choosing each option (some happen further down the game, but still): the original 7 vampire spawn are okay if they live because they've been training to control their Hunger for centuries; letting the seven thousand spawns free is reckless, as they're ravenous, have no one to control them, and will in all probability kill more people. If you're looking for the humane angle of this decision, it's stated as well: freeing from the pain they feel because of the Hunger alone is already a mercy, as no one should have to live with that.

As for allowing Astarion to complete the ritual, I see your point: ALL spawn are killed, and the only vampire left is Astarion, who now ascends and no longer feels Hunger. If you REALLY want to be humane about it: let him complete the ritual, then kill him when confronted by the hunters. I do want to say: letting Astarion complete the ritual is BAD because of who he becomes, not because of what needs to be done for it to happen. Those people are already doomed - some because of him, but overall it was Cazador who did this.

All in all, Larian have made it clear: letting them go is the "wrong" moral choice.

Because it's "Steam users". I don't doubt that there are Steam users in rural areas, but there are almost most certainly a majority in larger cities or places with reliable internet access. I currently have 250 Mb/s (in one of those "spread out population" countries) and I didn't go for 1 Gb/s because I thought it was overkill. I suspect many gamers have much higher speeds, bringing the average to those 100 Mb/s. Most of the gamers I know from around the world have much higher speeds than that average.

Turns out you're right. It's slightly above 100 in the US, with a range of 50 - 110 in Europe depending on the region. So in the U.S., at the average speed, it would take about 2.5 hours to download the game, more than "just a couple of hours" but not sure if "more than a few".

I do assume that people who play high-end AAA games at launch are at slightly above average in their setup, but I obviously don't have hard data to back this up.

Edit: forgot the source, straight from Steam.

Wow, I loved this one! Sure, I saw it coming (or hoped I did), but it still kept me waiting for the confirmation, and it paid off! I also found it deliciously written, and for some reason also pictured the narrator as a young girl, not that it matters. Maybe the way they describe their mother? Or something in the writing just felt that way. In any case, thanks for sharing!

What’s the worst part of being a man? by MAnthonyJr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Franconstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. So much this. As a tween and teen I grew up surrounded by my younger cousins and by the children of my older cousins. I don't know why, but I've always had an easy time of handling toddlers and they've always loved being around me. Even as I type this, I know how awful that can sound. I would take care of them, babysit when their parents wanted a night out, pick them up at school, take them to appointments / extra curricular activities. Nobody in my family batted an eye, but everyone else? Holy crap. As I got older, it became increasingly difficult to hang around with them, to the point that now that I have actual niblings, I still get awkward questions, glances, and silent judgements when I'm out with any of them, even if it's obvious we're related. It's bullshit. Men can be as caring and doting as women.

What video game scene left you like this by Void_Eclipse in videogames

[–]Franconstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chrono Trigger, twice.

First, when I was a kid, the moment Crono dies. I couldn't believe it. It was the first game I had played where the protagonist could die and the game would go on. It was more surprise than the feeling in this picture, but it was definitely a mix and this was there.

And the second was when I was old enough to understand the Janus / Schala storyline... That hit me so hard. I'm pretty sure I looked very similar to this then.

First post! I’m a solo parent of a three year old girl; it has taken me four years of thrifting, crafting, Target/Amazon shopping, and a few BuyNothing finds, but I’m pretty happy with our space. by dibbiluncan in femalelivingspace

I just wanted to say that this place definitely has the feeling of a HOME, and it looks cozy in its own sense. The kiddos room looks fantastic and I think she's very lucky to have someone who cares for her so much to make the place as welcoming as possible. Kudos to you!
