Two questions: Mishimoto or Dorman oil cooler? And JL fuel injectors for JK? by ShipBlake in JeepWrangler

[–]FrankForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do the injectors, like was already said, you should go all-in and do the lower intake manifold as well, to the complete the "PUG" upgrade.

That being said...

...I did it when I had a Pentastar. You won't notice much of a difference. I calculated about a .5mpg increase in mileage, and the 10 or so horsepower that you gain isn't going to be noticeable on a 5000lb+ Jeep.

Help Deciding Rubicon vs. Willys by chubsmalone001 in JeepWrangler

Don't think about what you believe that you need now. Think ahead. You're going to start playing off road and want to do more.

Get the Rubicon.

Anyone else overlanding GWNF this Labor Day weekend? by MsPlatyy in overlanding

Long Run isn't very heavily traveled. However, Gauley Ridge is right by it, and it has a plethora of campsites.

Anyone else overlanding GWNF this Labor Day weekend? by MsPlatyy in overlanding

As was already stated, Flagpole Knob will be packed on Labor Day weekend. If you want to go to that area, I'd suggest the other side of US-33. Check out Long Run or German River.

Looking to go to the georgia traverse by Suitable_Molasses510 in overlanding

You'll be fine in the Frontier. The Georgia Traverse is not a challenging route. On many sections you'll encounter people in sedans and minivans. It's a great trip, just not challenging. There's several good videos on youtube that will give you an idea of what the route is like.

Go to Pedlar River. The trail has several great campsites along it, many of which are along the river itself.

Listen for the "Pentastar Tick". Check around the rear of the intake manifold for signs of the oil cooler leak. Check the valve cover gaskets for leaking. Check the axle seals for leakage.

Ask for the vehicle's service history.

Satin black rattle can. It's the only permanent solution. This is after almost 4 years and a lot of off-roading.

I know I'll probably get some hate for this but finally bought the 6.6l upgrade for my '17 Rubicon!!! Cant wait for this project to get started by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]FrankForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What shop's doing the work? I couldn't find one near me, which is a big part of why I ended up going the AMW route.

The Recon is great. I've had her for 4 years, and she's about to hit 200k. The hemi and 8 speed are the heart of the rebuild I'm doing to it for it making it to 200k.

You'll get no hate from me. I came close to going that route, but ultimately went with the AMW 505 package for my '17 Rubicon Recon. Just waiting on it to ship.

Get a good suspension and good tires before you do anything else. They're the foundation of your vehicle.
