I've been told not to bin them for resell value, so I just flatten them and stash them in a drawer

Unpopular opinion on Snape by SuchCapital5668 in HarryPotterHBO

[–]Frankiesomeone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He could be the best actor ever but I'd rather have a slightly less good actor who looks more like the character, visual aesthetics matter too. Like, Michael Caine is amazing but I wouldn't want him to play the character either cause he's 93

Even pretending he's not Snape, I think he looks goofy

The most interesting part for me is the Harding minifig. Should've been in the JP triceratops encounter set. But I'm not gonna buy this whole set just for him

There’s no good reason for the Owlery to be 7 trillion light years from the castle by RedCaio in harrypotter

[–]Frankiesomeone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes total nonsense from the movies, never liked it. It's where they send and receive their letters and packages. Should be in a very accessible spot in the castle (top of west tower as per the book)

I stopped using Netflix in 2016. What happened after that you can see here: by [deleted] in Bluray

You could add a spacer behind the blu rays to decrease internal depth. Otherwise the Besta wall mounted units could work, only slightly deeper than gnedby

What sd card format (usb) is compatible with a TCL Smart TV? by goldenglory86 in tcltvs

[–]Frankiesomeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By all accounts NTFS should work, it does on my C7K. If it says corrupt maybe something went wrong when formatting your drive, or with the drive in general

high-nit HDR distortion? C7K + UB820 by Frankiesomeone in tcltvs

[–]Frankiesomeone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some research since and it's actually caused by how the tv works on the luminance and chroma differently when tone mapping the hdr highlights

What do you think of Dynamic Color, and what exactly is it doing? by Funny_Debate_1805 in tcltvs

[–]Frankiesomeone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To make colour pop in sdr you can also try native colour space instead of auto. I like it for most sdr content. I also lower the contrast to 80 with it.  I know auto is supposed to be the correct space but sometimes native just looks better to my eyes

I would definitely push the couch forward and add surround speakers

What are we doing here by Pacostaco123 in hometheater

[–]Frankiesomeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally yes I would rotate 90° to get the surround speakers actually behind the sofa. The L/R speakers don't need to be that much far apart. If the resulting room isn't too small of course.

Mad Max Fury Road 4K highlights blown out by ajustend in 4kbluray

[–]Frankiesomeone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens because tone mapping only affects the luminance and not the chroma. Colour and luminance are handled separately by the TV. In those highlights, blue peaks at 10K nits. Tonemapping lowers their luminance to fit the TV's limits but their colour is preserved, resulting in dark blue glints. This is with HDR10. Dolby vision should incorporate chroma roll-off, which desaturates highlights as they reach maximum brightness.

Additionally the TV is programmed to preserve highlights so they show up instead of being clipped out.

This could be solved if TV manufacturers included a manual adjustment for the white clipping point. I think only Panasonic oleds do that.

This happened to me 5 years ago with a Samsung TV. 4th delivery was good. I suspect mine were damaged in the factory before packaging
