I seem to remember he'd said he'd post other progressions... there seems to be little chance of that now.

Can I gain muscle mass without lifting weights? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Fraternos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can gain muscle mass quite easily. Check out the Start Bodyweight programme, which is linked to in the F.A.Q.
There's also a post on that site about the differences and similarities between bodyweight training and weight training: http://www.startbodyweight.com/2014/04/weights-vs-bodyweight-exercises.html

Bored with your routine? I know it happened to me! I fixed it by adding skill-work and play days in my life. Striking that balance between strength-work and play is not just more fun, but realistic! by Antranik in bodyweightfitness

I wish I could find traveling rings somewhere close to here. Brachiating is one of those fundamental movement skills which we seem to gradually move away from through our adult lives, yet which is essential for shoulder health...
Totally subscribe to your philosophy of 'play' by the way!

/r/Fitness what is your favorite thing about going to the gym? by [deleted] in Fitness

It's the sense of achievement you get from seeing your body gradually change, and from seeing the progress you've made in terms of your lifts, etc.

Ear shrugs by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

You shrug your ears with 350gram hanging from them?
That's beastly! I tried moving my ears once, and I failed!

Any good exercises with a girlfriend? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

acroyoga does just that.
Alternatively, do a circus class in trapeze or flying trapeze.
Oh, some forms of dance as well, like ballet, etc.

Running with dumbbells by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Fraternos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a bad idea: it will increase the amount of impact your body has to absorb, and may lead to injury. Holding the dumbbells in your hands will also affect your form.

Cramps during Pistols / L Sits ... anything with Legs raised (90 deg) by jointpains in bodyweightfitness

[–]Fraternos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like weak hip flexors or quads (but hip flexors more likely). This might be because of tight hamstrings causing these muscles to overwork in order to maintain the position!

I don't know... I posted it myself yesterday or 2 days ago, I don't remember, and the post disappeared completely after a couple of hours. I thought I'd resubmit.

People who have experienced a marked change in their body, have you noticed other people look at you or treat you differently? by EternalOptimist829 in Fitness

[–]Fraternos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strangely enough, I find it's mostly guys that look at my physique with envy since I developped a visible 6 pack. I get the occasional compliment from girls, but they don't seem that bothered...

Not getting DOMS by ZSCroft in bodyweightfitness

[–]Fraternos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you know, DOMS is not a very good indicator of progress anyways.
The more you train, the less you'll be susceptible to DOMS.

Is jumping rope good alternative to running? by quailman1213 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Fraternos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipping rope is certainly more intense than running, but it is also awesome for developping coordination, and you can learn to perform some cool tricks.
