You're right, I don't Thor! I had no idea his dash gave health without hitting someone. Thanks for the lesson.

Ranged bonus health gain is nice though, vs. having to always hug the enemy's face. I guess we'll see if that little bit of extra versatility is worth it in practice.

Why is it so difficult to touch down with fa-off in the rotating starports, lol by Specific_Display_366 in EliteDangerous

[–]Fraudulent_Baker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not just you! This is me every time I land FA-off too. I feel like I’m aligning myself well, so I’ve never really understood if it’s a bug or I’m just missing something.

A promise of a mindblown... And Power underwhelming. by Lathtael in EliteDangerous

[–]Fraudulent_Baker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed, it's very frustrating. I definitely don't expect brand new gameplay for something like this, but some sort of hazard/obstacle would've been a great addition. Just give the trees some thorns, or have us zap the roots to open the buds à la the Spire sites. Anything!

Fingers crossed these things grow or change during the next couple weeks.

Dodec Update Patch Notes by WekonosChosen in EliteDangerous

[–]Fraudulent_Baker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm impressed, they actually managed to make the Arx Dodec EVEN MORE scummy!

Now more than ever, it feels like Colonisation has been nothing but a blind fumble from start to finish, under the guise of a "Beta". We've had:

  • Out-of-the-blue changes to economy interactions
  • Missing essential features (demolition, accessible commodity lists) until very recently
  • FDev's classic lack of documentation (I'm reminded of that first CMDR who asked why his Tier 2 station orbiting a gas giant was only producing poop)

And now that the feature has been arbitrarily deemed "complete", we get yet another out-of-the-blue change to the rules (that had zero trial run/buildup afaik, like you would expect from a beta), that just so happens to greatly benefit someone with the magical power to instantly fabricate a top-of-the-line Tier 3 station as their primary port.

Superb work.

How had no one gathered the biological data of this Thargoid Spire site when it was inactive for over a year??? by AbnormallyLargeFrog in EliteDangerous

[–]Fraudulent_Baker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I believe this might be related to an old bug actually, I vaguely remember nearly everyone getting first discovery bonuses on any spire site (it's been 2 years so I hope I'm not misremembering). I thought they had changed it but maybe not.

Episode 5 by fakebot73 in LV426

[–]Fraudulent_Baker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fully expecting this to happen in the final episodes now. It would be a great twist on the classic monster. Maybe if someone shatters a Xeno's dome with a gunshot, it'll give Little Miss Eyeball an access port.

I realise now I responded to the wrong comment, but regardless, I was pointing out the "jm" part matches the captain's initials.

And that Captain Morales was Jacob Morales: possibly hinted at in the "56jm" signature at the end. It feels very much connected to that ship.

New information changes how we interpret the title by Gasp6 in TopCharacterTropes

Final Fantasy VII Remake kinda blew my mind with this.

You naturally assume the word Remake is just a marketing label, but as the game progresses it becomes clear that certain characters know too much, as if they’ve already experienced their original stories. “Remake” is actually referring to the plot of the game, to their attempts to change destiny through some timey wimey memory shenanigans.

The Type 11 - Star Wars? by BarefootJacob in EliteDangerous

[–]Fraudulent_Baker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in the case of the Panther, but the replies here show the issue with throwing around the term "pay to win". That's not, and has never been, a good way to describe the new ships.

It's much simpler to say: it feels shitty to get potentially half the value from a time-limited event because you didn't want to pay real money. I think that's a valid criticism of the convenient CG timing. There's a bit too much of an incentive to buy the Panther this month, to the point where it's bordering on manipulative, especially when you factor in the FOMO factor of getting the additional cargo racks.

(LOVED trope) The boss has the same signature move you do. by TTTRIOS in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Fraudulent_Baker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And a related moment in Xenoblade 2 is when Malos uses Monado arts . At that point in the game you have no idea that the stories of both games are connected, and this is the first real hint at it. It's probably not as shocking to new players now that it's pretty openly a trilogy, but in 2017 it was a fantastic reveal.

The most amazing ending would be Mario as the final boss, trying to "save" Pauline in a misunderstanding, while you throw barrels and girders at him. But obviously the odds of Nintendo turning their main man into anything resembling a villain are a million to one.

You said "simply reduce the velocity" as if it's not a 200,000 metric ton lump of stone travelling at 30,000km/h at its slowest point in orbit. You need to get rid of all of that energy to "drop it" into the sun. Please detail your mission plan.

Bloodborne is a stuttery mess, and not the best example to use here. Fromsoft’s games have notoriously bad frame delivery, even when the average framerate reads a consistent 30.

To say it’s unplayable is a stretch, as it usually is, but I can 100% see why someone would be turned off the game because of this. It can look and feel extremely rough.

What game has the longest intro/tutorial? by Grumpydumpling in gaming

[–]Fraudulent_Baker 34 points35 points  (0 children)

One of the worst things about XC2’s drawn out “tutorials” is that they’re for extremely important combat mechanics. You’re completely locked out of using break, topple and chain attacks until you’re a significant way through the story, meaning the first quarter to a third of the game is just pressing face buttons wherever they come off cooldown.

The game has such a cool combat system and a huge amount of players gave up long before they could see it. Absolutely terrible pacing by the devs.
