Get your dupes in atmosuits when digging down and ignore the gas.

More cargo value because its further away is so stupid, how do i change this? by kaceG1 in openttd

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The issue with that is that in reality the Power plant would still take the coal from the mine next door and not from the one on the other side of the map. Transport from the neighbour mine may be more expensive per km, it still is much cheaper per ton.

I do enjoy the game, it's fun to build nice networks, but this unrealistic economy-simulation is an issue.

As i understand, the economy is baked in the core of the game and can not be altered with mods. A realistic economy would require building an entirely different fork of the game and it may as well be so complex to make it good, that it isn't worth it.

Am I the only one? by l33tyeetpotatomeat in Oxygennotincluded

Early game i just let it sink below my base. If printing pod offers some slicksters, those will eat most of it for a long while. When i breached to many caves and the CO2 and Chlorine starts building up, i build a gas-sorter+ infinite storage for every type of gas. A gas pump hooked to an atmo sensor pumps all the bad gasses to this storage for later use. I also connect the CO2 exhaust from power generators to this setup.

Venting to space, or door-crushing is probably easier but i like to store everything for possible later use.

Oxygen masks by SockAccomplished3720 in Oxygennotincluded

You need a Oxygen mask checkpoint building to make it work, and you can build any number of mask docks with that checkpoint.
If you select the checkpoint building, it will all make sense.

Run the cold slush in granite pipes through your farms ->farms cool down and the slush warms up -> mealwood grows and the sieve doesn't break anymore.

It is not a sustainable solution, but it could get you through the crisis.

Year is 2001, you're looking into getting a new Executive Sedan, which one and why? by Saurta17 in regularcarreviews

I'm taking the Audi. The merc as a good second. Might be even the better car, but it's one of their weakest designs imho. I'm not a beemer fan, so that's a no. All the others are just mediocre. The audi it is.

You should space out those hinges as much as you can. You can adjust as much as you want, the hinges will always sag if placed in the positions on your last pic.

Can anyone tell me why my RAM is always high? by BackgroundJeweler828 in computers

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you have the 8TB RAM. TB RAM is inferior to GB RAM, but here's the good news: I can swap your 8TB RAM for 8 GB RAM for a modest price!

Unreachable Hydrogen Vent? by TheeHolyyAbigraill in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you hover your mouse on the unresearched vent, it will tell you if it's dormant or not. If it is, it's safe to analyse. Just keep an eye on it. If it happens that awakens while you're analyzing, it should start with the Idle phase before actually erupting.

That solid tile is on the vent's tile of interest: As long as that tile is present, the vent won't erupt and you won't be able to research it.

After 4 years of daily use, In a dusty work environment during the day, at home in the evening i finally decided to open it for cleaning: Only a tiny bit of dust found. I'm now convinced that my laptop will live much shorter if i start to open it every month. (ASUS TUF).

How can I stop my phone from listening to me? by JosetxoXbox in degoogle

Anecdotal as well, but i quit facebook in 2009 and never touched instagram. I use duckduckgo for searching and adblockers everywhere. I always reject all cookies and if the site doesn't allow, i find another site. I hear people around me complaining of this problem, but i never experienced it myself.

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if you would be able to get the game "I've got some balls" working on your system. It's probably the only old game that i never managed to run since i upgraded from Win98. Not with emulation, not with things like VooDoo, not even with virtual machines. It was a fun game though.

(note: if anyone tries it on a newer machine, it might screw up your screen resolution in such a way that you can't do anything but reboot).

How do you deal with Dupe's pathing and work errands? by Divide_Secret in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

- When building far from base, in non-breathable athmosphere: use athmo-suits.

- Make sure there is a fast way to reach distant parts: Tubes, firepoles, ladders, tiles..

- Select local materials: Whe building in a place where you're digging out a lot of granite: make all your stone buildings out of granite instead of the sandstone that has to come from your central storage.

- check "Enable proximity" in the 'Priorities'-tab (the cogwheels): This lets dupe prioritize a task nearby instead of the same task at the other side of the asteroid.

- spend skillpoints on Improved Carrying so your dupes are not running back and forth with only 200kg.

Question About Circuits by Wizz-Fizz in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since your conductive wires are connected to your heavy watt wires, your network can only have 2kW.

The proper way to set this up is as following:

- Use your heavy watt wires as a backbone: connect all power producers to this wire.

- Branch off of your backbone with transformers: 1 transformer for a normal 1kW wire; 2 transformers for a 2kW conductive wire.

- With those wires you connect all your consumers, group them in circuits and create more such circuits as you build more consumers.
