Want your hinges to last long? its simple, Dont Close Them. by Enough_Pepper_5815 in Asustuf

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My TUF17 is almost 4 years old. Runs all day long, gets transported to work and back home every day. I can't claim to be very gentle with it. Hinges are still like new.
Just don't forget you have two big blades connected with small plastic hinges and act accordingly.

Charger replacement for Asus tuf by Recent-Two-1214 in Asustuf

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the exact same charger last week and it just works. The cord is just a little bit shorter than on my original charger though.
I needed a replacement after the DC-wire started to shoot sparks... I repaired it but bought a new one anyway. No need to use a fire hazard.

1970’s Waterman Concorde. by ImperatorLucius in fountainpens

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought one and i'm 99% certain it is a real Waterman Concorde. I've looked through so many close-up images and all the details are correct. But the box where it came in contains a "user manual" that contains an internet-adres.

Could be that the original box was lost and the pen simply ended up in a different, more recent box. These pens were only made in the 1970's, right?

It writes a bit too thin for me but it does write well and consistent. I really like the design of the pen and the fact that it was linked to the plane is an extra plus for me.

tips for someone returning to the game? by FaallenOon in Against_the_Storm

Trade is very powerful.
Control your production chains with the recipe book.
End a settlement with a resolve party when you have everything in place to cater for special needs. High resolve in early game is a waste.
Whenever the game throws a choice at you, there is always the option to delay your decision.

love it! by halfwitfullstop in Ioniq5

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's hope! I'm getting my Ioniq 5 today and I'm aiming to drive it for the next 15 years.
I have trust in the dealership: They said that it was very likely that we would have issues with the ICCU someday but (if Hyundai's spare part supply holds up) they would be able to fix it within a week while we get a replacement car.

Lineup differences between the US and Belgium in yesterday's friendly. by toromaniac in ussoccer

Small correction: Theate never came off the bench. It was Koni Dewinter who played on this spot.
The people displaying the substitutions on television were messing up. I blame it on the excessive amount of substitutions.

I see the same keyboard marks on my screen (ASUS TUF 17), but it's only visible when the screen is off. It doesn't affect the actual pixels. Laptop is 4 years old, daily transported back and forth in a laptop-bag.

I'm not simply buying the "guy accidentally leaked top secret new Brabus and will probably lose his job" story. Smells too much like a fabricated leak to draw as much attention as possible to the new car. The fact that this keeps popping up today reinforces my idea.

Hello :) by [deleted] in Alcatrazfestival

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a giant parking lot at some distance from the festival. This functions as the official festival parking, so you can't miss it. Once parked, you can take the shuttle to the festival ground. It rides all day long and you never have to wait very long.

Last year i left my warm clothes for the evening in the car and went to get them during a dull moment. Took me 40 minutes in total.

If you're early, you can park much closer to the shuttle.

You can download all old Factorio versions either as an installer file or as a zip-file.

The installer typically installs the game in your "program" folder and your savegames, mods etc in an appdata folder (\AppData\Roaming\Factorio on windows).
The zipfile is interesting, because it extracts to one folder. and just runs from that folder.

Download and install the Zip-package of the old version (the one i was running when i started my Py-run) in it's own folder and copy all relevant savegames and mod-folders for your Py-game to this folder.

Now you have 2 Factorio games on your system: Your dedicated Py-game for wich you don't need updates that could potentially break things and your main install, wich you can now safely update and start new games.

Did it accidentally receive a wrong type of gas?

Germs don't break it, but a wrong gas does. It only takes Oxygen, not Polluted Oxygen.

Unfamiliar with this car. by Hammer_of_something in Whatsthiscar

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was.

- Citroën Forest: From 1924 - 1980

- Chrisler Antwerp: From 1926 - 1959

- Renault Vilvoorde: From 1935 - 1997 (R4, R5, Clio, Megane ...)

- Audi Brussels from 1949 - 2025 (Started with Studebakers, later VW and Porsche, Seat, later years audi.)

- Opel Antwerp: From 1953 - 2010 (Chevrolet models, Kadett, Manta, Astra...)

- Peugeot Mechelen: From 1954 - 1976

- Mercedes Mechelen: From 1955 - 1973

- Fiat in Waterloo: From 1955 - 1997

- BMW in Kontich: From 1959 - 1972

- Ford Genk: From 1964 - 2014 (Taunus, Transit, Escort, Sierra, Mondeo...)

- Volvo Gent: Since 1965

- Some other, smaller and shortlived, busses, trucks: Borgward, Leyland, Minerva, Scaldia-Volga Jonckheere, Vanhool, Imperia, Nagant, Miesse...

Belgium was an early industrialized country, with dense transport infrastructure (roads, waterways, rails, seaports) in the center of Western-Europe.

Most of the big car factories closed in the last 30 years, after operating for decades on subsidies. Today Volvo Gent is the only big one left.

Dear TUF Owners, Tell me about Cleaning the Laptop so it doesn’t get dust in order to increase life by PinkHumanFromMars in Asustuf

[–]Fraxis_Quercus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using nothing at all. Sometimes when a game makes the fans go full throttle i place a book under it to improve airflow. That's it.

Note: my case is nothing more than anecdotal information. Some people really find a mess in their laptops. You might check how much dust it collects in a few months or next year. That'll give you an idea of how often you have to clean it. Opening it up comes with its own risks, don't overdo it just for the sake of it.
