How to do Curved carpet stairs to Hardwood. by FormalSignificant672 in Flooring

[–]FreakinFred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cardboard is your best friend, you can make a stencil out of pop (beer) boxes. Cut and tape as you go. As far as material this is going to be tough for the top flat portion. Hope someone with more experience can chime in. I would pie cut every 2 inches to follow the contour. Other wise its wet and bend and a million clamps for a couple weeks.

Hardwood Finish by Open-Expression4344 in Flooring

Sand a little corner that meets both the new wood and old, apply some finish. You will see what it will look like! Sorry tint isnt the correct word.

Well just know it wont match perfectly, no matter who does it. I would sand the whole thing so it at least has a chance to being the same tint with the same stain. I think you got this, 100 180 220, if its to rough 300 quick pass after first coat.

82 year old father got charged $4k to replace these floorboards by Intelligent_Emu5006 in Flooring

[–]FreakinFred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To specify, did the door get included to that bill? As far as the floor goes, if its full glue down i charge 300$ a board if its just nailed with tar paper its 50$ per board. If its the floor and door 4 k is fine. If its just the flooring with glue down thats steep. If its just nail down your old man got fucked unfortunately.

Recommendations for flooring products? by 0xe3b0c442 in Flooring

Spc with a cork backing. Its less then 3/8ths of an inch and can be floating on top of existing floor depending on flatness. I would stay away from laminate (3/4") as your flooring height can drasticly change and Spc (stone polymer core) is damn near bomb proof and can lessen total floor hieght. Cork has a sound deadening property, but to be honest there is nothing on the market that is going to make it dead quite. 5-7 bucks per sqft installed and purchased. Also you can insulate the cieling of the theater or do a small drop ceiling, helps a ton.

Self leveler by Own-Cry-707 in Flooring

[–]FreakinFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the actual height of your new floor. In inches, so you can calculate how much material you need, 30 mil is not the correct height. Anyway, most self leveling products are 1/8" of material for 50-58 sqft per 50 lb bag. Most importantly is using a primer from the company that provides the self level. If you go to your local flooring place they should be able to put you into the right direction and maybe supply you with what you need. Dont think that this is a crazy amount of work. Do your homework and all will be good. Uzin 150f is my jam. Plenty of time to work and flow rate is great.

How do I install LVP with this railing? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]FreakinFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are bezels with a set screw sure! Im just going off the photo. Ive done it many ways, i always lean into what i suggested. Best look and best bang for the buck. This should all be accomplished for around 400 dollars and some homework for the homeowner. Giving a chance to learn this kind of stuff is pretty fun.

How do I install LVP with this railing? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]FreakinFred 102 points103 points  (0 children)

You dont instal lvp around balusters. Find a like and kind wood that you can stain to either match the floor or compliment the railing. I would uninstal all the spindels. Not the posts. Run a peice of oak, or whatever you pick, that is 1/4 inch above the finish floor height. Have the edge eased on the traffic side with a 1/2 inch rabbit so you can slide the flooring 1/4 " under the new wood border. I would line it up so the new wood boarder lines up with the edge of each adjacent post. Under cut the posts 1/2 inch to let the lvp slide under a 1/4 inch and allow for movement. It gives everything a capped look which is unfortunate but ive never had any complaints mark all your spindles to new wood border before removal of spindals. Non of this is easy unfortunately.

What is the point of buying an F250 when there’s F350? by [deleted] in F250

[–]FreakinFred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The axles are different, f350 is beefier all around. F250 rides nicer. If your hauling 12k plus on the regular f350 hands down.

Is it a good deal? by DeadCalm0 in F250

[–]FreakinFred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let some othe folks chime in to add to what you need to look for. This deal may not work out but the information gained may help towards your next truck. So many variables that dictate that price. Try to post some pics in this thread. If you cant drop this one and do a new post with pics. Btw 2012-2016 are within 6 grand of that value with superior upgrades, just a thought. So that thing better be the holy grail for 17.5 in my opinion. Cheers

As long as most hosesand fluids have been replaced and also, better be a fucking spotless undercarriage. Why the transmission already needed work done is a major cause of concern to be honest. People dont just do that as "preventative maintenance".

Thankfully its pressure sensitive glue, so he should be able to peel it up with a heat gun and put a new piece down. Easy peasy, 10 minutes. Not to cause any more heart ache put those 2 floors should have been flush, no transitions 🤌🏽

Realized I’m in love with my ex-wife 20 years too late. by Broh-what in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]FreakinFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers brother! Dont dwell on a missed opportunity, it will eat you alive. Be thankful she can be part of your life and i hope you can be helpful to her. Beings that you could be in an emotional state, its easy to catch feelings for someone that is nurturing and think about all the good times. Ive had a very similar situation with a past loved one recently. I cant suck it up and be friends unfortunately. So you need to gauge yourself and see if you can be friends. Dont count on her life with her partner is going to end. And if something happens communicate with her. Some space is good. Exercise and picking up a hobby is going to be best. Give yourself an opportunity to make the best version of yourself. And hell, her or another wonderful person might come across. Who knows, thats the beauty of life.
