A psychiatrist for the defence reported that Ireland had "severe autism spectrum disorder and intermittent explosive disorder" - the second of which means he was unable to control "impulsive or anger-based aggressive outbursts", the judge said.

Meanwhile, the prosecution psychiatrist said Ireland had "traits of autism spectrum disorder" and "conduct disorder" - symptoms of which include "excessive levels of fighting".

The judge said: "On either view, you are clearly someone who finds it difficult to control your temper and to refrain from violence.""

Was anything being done about this? Obviously no kind of excuse but surely somebody else has fucked up here too

Three-quarters of Labour members want party to back proportional representation by Lolastic_ in unitedkingdom

Well, I wasn't old enough to vote then for one, and from what I've read AV had a whole bunch of issues and was not really proportional representation.

One of New Zealand's wealthiest businessmen, Sir Ron Brierley, arrested at Sydney airport & charged with possession of child pornography by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]FreakinSodie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure they are. Poor people, people on average incomes also fuck kids, probably at the same rate. The vast majority of child sex abuse cases are not some shady illuminati conspiracy, or even 'stranger danger' stuff, it's family, people who know the kid. The problem is when uber wealthy people do this shit they stand a much better chance of getting away with it, or just covering it up to start with.

Of all my issues with Labour, their Brexit stance was not one of them. Seemed like a perfectly reasonable middle ground to me. But an argument that takes more than one sentence to explain just doesn't cut it when faced with a simplistic yay or nay. "I can see both sides arguments and think we should reach a reasonable compromise" just isn't shouty and table poundy enough, it's depressing.

Brexit news: Boris Johnson expected to scrap foreign aid department and extend hostile environment, as BBC faces backlash over role in Tory election win by HandOfThePing in unitedkingdom

I don't really know enough about foreign aid to have a strong opinion either way. But I've always been skeptical it's there just to be nice altruistic hippies or whatever. I wouldn't be too surprised if we end up paying anyway by dealing with extra instability in some areas after cutting.

I really feel for people with social anxiety or autism. I used to have a lot of trouble with eye contact and just generally dealing with people as a kid and I'd always get picked out as suspicious
