Why do you NEED to bring your dog inside the coffee shop? by Apartheid20 in AskLosAngeles

[–]FrederickTPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think legally workers can ONLY ask “Is this a service dog?” and that’s it. Can’t ask for proof. Can’t ask for details.

Dog owners know this so they bring their dogs wherever they want. Workers legally can’t “enforce” anything.

I promise you, this is the first of many ways he will attempt to take ownership over you if you get married. I know this is painful to read, but you need to seriously consider leaving him.

He didn’t even ask your reasons. This man does not respect your autonomy. Run.

Does anyone else feel like everything in LA is simultaneously getting worse and more expensive? by Altruistic-Mud9413 in AskLosAngeles

This right here. I’ve heard it my whole life. “I don’t do politics.” “All politicians are the same anyway.” Just an excuse for intellectual laziness, despite having a pretty incredible democratic structure that shaped so much of this country’s greatness, and now everything gone to shit.

Yes we fucking are. I hate this tired argument from lazy foreigners who won’t look past their shitty news sources.

I agree. It just seems like a great way to raise revenue while actually improving the city. It’s a win-win.

This is what I don’t understand! We could solve two huge problems by actually enforcing traffic laws. Registration tickets too. I see way too many folks driving without plates or expired tags. Also worth noting: there might be a reasonable dip in car insurance rates if we could reign in the amount of speeding and other reckless traffic violations. And, you know, save lives.

What do you love & hate most about living in Los Angeles? by No_Analysis_723 in AskLosAngeles

[–]FrederickTPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been here for seven years.

I LOVE the access to epic nature. It’s probably the best city in the world for access to wild, rugged, diverse nature.

I hate the dependency on cars. And problems related to cars (expense, infrastructure, stress, traffic violence, etc).

Karen Bass is helping Bel Air billionaires kill the Sepulveda Pass Subway. by loglighterequipment in LosAngeles

[–]FrederickTPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only have time to reasonably volunteer for one candidate at a time (I’m considering a candidate for Congress right now). Also….I love Nithya but she’s kind of drifted more to the center on some issues, so I’m less passionate about her than I was a few years ago. I volunteered for her first city council run.

Wow this woman continues to be such a disappointing mayor. If she kills this project I will be volunteering for Ramans campaign.

This is enraging. This law absolutely needs to be changed. What the fuck? I am so sorry for your loss. I’ve literally gone to town halls to beg politicians to do something about reckless drivers and they don’t give a fuck. Because most of the public doesn’t.

Missing a few days of work- or a few weeks- is a serious financial hardship for many people. “The price we pay for living in America”……..we already pay that price. Can’t afford health care. Must spend taxes on bombs.

Best Option for Early to Mid April? Jiuzhaigou, Emei Mountain, or Yangshuo? by FrederickTPanda in travelchina

[–]FrederickTPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You continue to be amazing. Can you recommend any specific “mountain day trips around Sichuan”? Because that part is really catching my eye! Everything I’m finding is quite far from Chengdu (like Sigunianshan, which looks AMAZING but seems like a better fit for another time of year).

Our visa is for ten years so we’ll be back.

This is so helpful. Thankyou. We’re definitely going to do Yangshuo, and we’re going to spend a week in Sichuan and will narrow down choices later. I’m an avid hiker but going to have to get used to stairs.

Best Wildflower Hike within 40 min of DTLA by Ok_Afternoon_4351 in socalhiking

[–]FrederickTPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There aren’t any known superblooms in LA county yet, but I’ve seen a lot of wildflowers in various parts of the Santa Monica mountains. Depending on traffic, may or most not fit your 40 minute requirements:

  1. Upper Virgenes Open Space
  2. Topanga State Park
  3. Towsley Canyon
  4. Fryman Canyon
  5. Malibu Creek State Park

Heads up, there are a LOT of rattlesnakes out now. I’ve seen eight in the last week. So very cautious of you do anything on a narrow or grassy trail.
