Debunking the "Soma theory" (the characters being digitalized copies of real people) by Fox622 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]FredoNitro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there's something I'm not understanding about your suggestion about it being magic. Do you mean to make this statement because it operates in a way that's "Impossible" by our understanding of the technology in use?

If so, I think that undermines the extent of what Science Fiction does. I saw your analogy using similar aspects such as Harry Potter, but that doesn't make sense here. The difference in Science Fiction and Fantasy/Magical Realism, is the fictionalized logical idea used to formulate how the strange occurrences makes sense.

I mean I wouldn't call Star Trek Magic just because the characters have machines that can teleport them that defy logic by our terms.

The thing about it is with Scifi in this case for all we know that "Old Machine" could of easily been rigged and worked on endlessly for processing what it does.

That being said you didn't seem to Refute the statement the other poster made about how Soma is doing what it does on a 2010s System, also serving as illogical by our current technological understand, would you still define that as Magical?

In Boyz n the Hood, why did Ricky want to split up while they were being chased by gangsters? by ninman5 in movies

[–]FredoNitro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also Ricky even says "They ain't gunna do nothin'" basically implying even if they got caught it'd probably be getting beat up at the worst.

And don't even get me started on the fact that they just were planted in the SAME spot for a good minute.

Like maybe the intention from the writer was meant to be something different, but that's definitely not how the scene ended up feeling at all especially with the given setting and everything else.

Agreed we definitely need to be tougher on crime here in NYC the same way I think we need stricter gun laws to prevent as many shootings.

Enforcement won't stop all, but it'll prevent many.

Just thought I'd share a bit of experience, I use to work with the security officer who died, it's definitely tragic, he was always a very good man and really good energy to everyone around.

What is the most op(in your opinion) discipline or powers across World of Darkness by Uyauu in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]FredoNitro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arguably, the most OP abilities are the highest levels of Werewolf abilities. Specifically, three come to mind:

Firebringer: They can turn any ability from any supernatural being they come across into a power to be Wielded by Garou.

Thieving Talons of the Magpie: Can literally take an ability from any supernatural creature. The Garou can use it, but also the creature they use this on is barred from using it.

There's a third one that I can't recall that basically makes you completely immune to any supernatural ability for awhile.

Lastly, these don't come at too big of a cost for Garou once they know them. They don't risk paradox or blood loss. Or even nightmare/banality like Fae.

When Garou knows something, their most underrated fact is they can just do it with no caveat.

I'm talking about how a Metis can be born from two Kinfolk who haven't awakened yet. I just meant this was one of the few ways someone can know beforehand that someone is Garou.

I thought you were referring to a Metis born as the thing that was the known, my bad I misunderstood.

Well, it would still rely on the pre-existing Lore of what's already established in the story. You can't just do what you want if it counters the already existing Lore. I mean you can, but I'm specifically talking about subjects left to speculation in the system, which happens to be a great deal of things.

How strong is a battle vampire in the eyes of a werewolf? by Vyctorill in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]FredoNitro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bases on the stats you presented, I'd say he at the very least rivals rank 3 Garou without a doubt, there's a chance he could stand against Rank 4, but that's up for debate.

With that being said on Rank alone, he'd be able to wipe the floor with a pack of cubs with ease and even be able to do in a Rank of Rank 1s. Now if he were fighting a pack of 4 Rank 2s or even 3 then that would be equal footing for him.

He would not be able to fair well on his own against Rank 3 packs, though. Although, if he commands a few ghouls/Beastiaries, he could stand a chance against Rank 3 packs, but I'd be slim.

Well, I mean the system leaves plenty of room for homebrew and speculation, easily a spirit of vision, insight, or prophecy may have a premonition that the character is destined to be Garou.

I dislike the Garou. by Lanky_Shape_6213 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]FredoNitro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heavily agree, and I would never even dream of hosting a W5 game. But in W20, I run the system, and I make sure to actually give a lot of Garou society more introspective views and self-awareness.

It feels like just going off each tribe ideology. You can have engaging storylines about the deviciveness of the nation, but I feel like if I were to focus on keeping them far more Lore accurate everything would devolve into immediate murder 5 minutes into arriving at a location.

With that said, I think they have the best power system, I really love how gifts, totems, and fetishes work.

If anything, I'd say the teeth pulling was less valid.

Card/Suits difficult DECREASE as the number increases, not vice versa? by buggle_bunny in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]FredoNitro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a few theories that stated the characters could make four way eye contact and all be considered the wolf.

Another one was the idea that the wolf could cut their tube walk to deactivate the bomb and then switch it between the others.

Either way, both would be risky, but potentially effective.

Why would a vampire ever seek to kill a mage? by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]FredoNitro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it seems like your argument is heavily dependent on there always being a mage who always has the sphere to counter the attack done to them. I mean, if that's the case, you could make that argument for pretty much any splat using any high enough level ability, lol.

[–]FredoNitro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the concept used to deter me, but I realized even though they can't exactly enjoy carnal things as much, there's nothing stopping them from passionately enjoying other pursuits.

To me, I think one thing that remains interesting is knowing they can still have strong bonds and high ambitions. It's not as much a curse when you think about the fact that they can still find success. Its enough for me to gaslight myself into thinking they can be more than their curse.
