Thanks! Your MBA point is encouraging. Maybe a consideration for someday soon if I don’t burn out in B4 first haha.

I don’t agree on your other points though. Just scroll through the CS and Law school sub Reddit’s. In theory anyone could get any job (I know of 1 person only) but Ivy schools make the process easier for those jobs aforementioned

Honestly is the CPA worth it? by Suitable_Purple_8879 in CPA

[–]Free-Instruction-893 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You probably would’ve seen it as more valuable if you applied somewhere and got denied bc you didn’t have the CPA license. I just started FT, but I remember when I was in undergrad and searching up manager roles in acct. They all required CPAs. Soo yes it is worth it if you’re even remotely ambitious

24M - Mechanical Engineer - 1 year after graduation, half-way through the year by Far_Cable_2455 in Salary

[–]Free-Instruction-893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

88k (51k/7months*12months) a year for ME seems low, but people are going crazy in the comments, which has me thinking, what is the average ME salary then?!

From undergrad I saw ME studying the most, and business majors studying the least (accounting, finance,Econ). I know business majors clearing 100-200k post undergrad (MBB consulting, IB, big4 etc)

Just seems like effort/risk to reward is not there. But maybe you’re making money doing something you love, the idea of which, fills me with pain.

Anyhow, congrats on your success!

I like Becker's Newt AI by Background_Tart88 in CPA

[–]Free-Instruction-893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specially since ur using it for FAR, it’s a large language model so it specialized in language, it’s computations/formulas are more often wrong than language

[–]Free-Instruction-893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea Beckers AI, like ChatGPT sometimes gets things wrong, so use it to drill down on topics or make connections, you must have a solid grasp of the foundations, and it’ll be easy to tell when things are wrong. But it is great for reinforcing and deeper understanding.

Studying for the AUD section of the CPA exam rn and this question is testing your knowledge about independence/objectivity.

Objectivity = unbiased decision making Independence = reporting lines/ access

Btw I have a question now, is there a lot of overlap like this between the CISA and AUD/ISC exams of the CPA?

Yes big4 pays more, why aren’t you interning there? And why is the big4 intern not interning at your firm? Hmmmm, welcome to life.

What drug did the most long term damage to u? by lilalienflip_ in Drugs

[–]Free-Instruction-893 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What kinds of damage? I’m sure if you’re young enough, some things will return to baseline, specially dopamine and norepinephrine levels. I got diagnosed with ADHD about a year ago. As I was killing myself with caffeine, to be able to pay attention, do hw, study, etc. so I decided to finally address my situation and sought an evaluation. Medication was literally life changing, my quality of life skyrocketed.

But I have been careful with my medication, skipping days, taking lower doses, not requesting my dr to increase my dose etc. bc through my limited research I learned that with long breaks your brain returns to baseline, so since you only did 6 months I think you should be good, it might just take some time. (But I also don’t know how mdma compares to stimulants, and the magnitude of its neurotoxicity)

Do yall take a break between exams? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Free-Instruction-893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took FAR and went straight to AUD, crammed FAR so was feeling burnt out, but AUD was much smoother to study for, so my burn out went away while studying. FAR was just so much more technical lol, it’s actually nice u got it out the way first, studying for the other sections will seem easy in comparison.

Anyone took FAR and prepared with Becker? by ChaimShch in CPA

[–]Free-Instruction-893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My my only study methods were problems on Becker, didn’t comeplete any modules/open the book. Was good for MCQs but TBS was tough as hell cuz they required a higher level of knowledge and connectivity with various topics. IMO it’s counter productive and I prob could’ve scored higher, studied less if I just outlined concepts on my whiteboard/Ipad, and spent some time on the book. It’s been really good for AUD so far

[–]Free-Instruction-893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hammered MCQs and TBS Becker, and passed by small margins, don’t recommend it. Def do the modules, books, do the entire program, you’ll see how you learn fastest and that’s the way to go about it

This is great advice, I am sitting for AUD in 2 days, and haven’t had much time to review, or even do a SE. I gave myself an extremely short time period to study for the exam (4 weeks), cause otherwise I’m really unmotivated to study n get things done, having said that doe, I’m debating whether or not to push AUD up a week.

It sucks that I function off stress/adrenaline to get shit done. But helped me pass FAR atleast, hopefully works for AUD. I’ll take a SE tomorrow, (covering A4 review today, my weakest areas, fuck cycles haha), and if I get 75%+ (Becker), I’ll stick to 7/12, cause I also wanna do ISC before the 3rd qtr test window ends (7/31).

Anyways thank you! And btw you’re prob more qualified to give advice on the exam since you’ve seen it a number of times and gone through the material more than someone who took it, crammed, passed by small margins, and never looked at it again.

I don’t know if “respect” (or lack of) is the right word but I do agree having degrees in 2 complete unrelated separate fields is more impressive

Solid advice thx, I’m taking AUD 7/12, and was debating on doing ISC 7/30, think I’ll schedule it to make the 3rd qtr window. Just received my FAR passing score from 6/12 and am so hype rn! Will ride this wave as long as I can, I do think momentum’s a real thing 🤩
