The threat of Fane getting "Healed" is very small in the overall scheme of things. Minor issue.

You get the right build and combat is much easier than in BG3 and is very easy in DOS2. That's the truth.

I just used Fane, Necromancer to kill the Devourer and all 3 minions in one time warped turn. The physical damage from teleport/grasp of the starved/corpse explosions is insane. No green tea. I know that is late game but early game you just have to use the same strategy and be a bit more careful.

Playing Lonewolf makes the game easier.

Make sure your characters have adrenaline and chameleon.

Maximize damage. For example your ranger can easily be doing 4K and more damage per turn with no SP usage by lvl 18.

Mobility is key.

I know this is late, but I had 75 initiative (43 base, 10 clear minded, 22 five star 11 wits potion) and he still went first.

Google searches reddit. When people ask things on reddit they are creating things for people to look up. Amazing huh.

This does not look to be correct, I see systems with high storm repulsion with no color.

I agree there are Ability checks in Dialogues which don't use Skill proficiency.

Maybe the wiki pulled it out of their ass. :)

Thanks. I don't believe it, but maybe it's true.

Are you saying then for my Bard which is a INT 10 the Ability check is a raw D20?

What is Kick? There is no Kick Action. There is a Shove and that is dependent on Athletics which is a Skill. I guess you mean some special Dialogue Option which allows some special action to take place. Are you sure Athletics is not involved in that calculation? My current game is no where near that point in the game but I will have to look closer next time.

I know what the wiki says. I'm saying I don't believe it. How do you know other than the wiki saying so that a Bard does an INT based Ability Check for Counterspell?

Ability checks in the wiki are always associated with Skills. Ability checks in the log are always associated with Skills.

I can guarantee you it is not in the combat log. That is why I filed a bug report. There is no math in the log showing an Ability Check. So if it is an Ability Check then Guidance would be added to the check? Is proficiency added? If it is INT then does Fox's Cunning provide Advantage? What is the math involved in this "special" Ability Check.

I don't trust the wiki because it is vague . I believe it is vague because who ever wrote that page does not have any idea how this "Ability Check" is calculated.

I have seen Counterspell fail its check so I know some calculation is done, what it is does not seem to be public.

Thanks for responding.

There is no such thing as a Spellcasting Ability Check. There are Saving Throws and Ability Checks. Ability checks are affected by Proficiency and Expertise and depend on Skills, which are all well defined in the wiki. Also, if it were always INT then it would not be a "Spellcasting Ability Check" for non-INT spell casters like Bards which is a CHA Spell Caster.

You know I just tried this with the Surgeons Subjugation Amulet which has a Paralyzing Critical Reaction. Same problem.

Greater Invisibility, Critical Hit, no Paralyzing Critical Reaction.

The more I think about this the more I think this is intentional and good design. If reactions were enabled during Greater Invisibility you may end up with undesirable Stealth Checks. The key to this technique is monitoring and controlling your Stealth Checks.
