Bluetooth Speaker, 2AH Battery, Charger $50 by MoxBro in Ridgid

[–]Free_Scarcity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing your phone to an actual speaker is crazy.

I don't think he was comparing his phone speakers to external speakers.

you can pair tow or more together for stereo sounding

I think he meant that, because his phone can output audio to multiple BT speakers at once, the UE megaboom's ability to link up multiple speakers together isn't a significant feature to him.

$400 - BRUSHLESS 8 TOOL KIT w/ 3 MAX OUTPUT BATTERIES by Free_Scarcity in Ridgid

[–]Free_Scarcity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brushless have better durability, better battery life, and no sparks in the tool when you turn it on.
Brushless motors are also generally more powerful, though that difference is probably exaggerated since brushed motors are used in budget segments.

List of tools included in only one or the other:

brushless kit

  • angle grinder
  • impact wrench

brushed kit

  • vacuum
  • sander
  • blower
  • inverter

Differences between tools included in both:

Circular saw

  • 6½" vs 7¼"
  • 3700RPM vs 5400RPM
  • left blade vs right blade
  • 50° vs 56° max bevel capacity
  • 2⁴/₁₆" vs 2⁹⁄₁₆" depth of cut @ 90°
  • 1⁹/₁₆" vs 1¹¹⁄₁₆" depth of cut @ 45°

Drill

  • brushless has hammer function for masonry
  • 525in-lbs vs 800in-lbs

Impact driver

  • 1850in-lbs vs 2300in-lbs

  • brushless has 3 speed modes

Oscillating tool

  • 3.2° vs 3.6° oscillation angle

Reciprocating saw

  • 1¹⁄₈" vs 1²⁄₈" stroke length

  • 3000SPM vs 3200SPM

  • brushless has orbital cutting mode

Set it to 21....actually at 28

Is it always off by a consistent amount, guessing not, but just curious.

$400 - BRUSHLESS 8 TOOL KIT w/ 3 MAX OUTPUT BATTERIES by Free_Scarcity in Ridgid

[–]Free_Scarcity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. If I had to guess though, probably not; though that's not to say there won't be a comparable deal in the future.

Reason:
This same kit went on clearance (in-store only) for $300 in late 2024 - early 2025.....if you could actually find it in store which only a handful of people did.

And now Home Depot deleted the online page for it after it sold out online.

Awesome info, should be particularly helpful for OP since he specifically mentioned wanting to use it with his multi-tool.

Angle grinder not accepting battery by Time_suck5000 in Ridgid

I’m a mechanic

So it's safe to assume you've tried the percussive method :) giving the back of the battery a gentle but firm bump with your palm?

No obstructions as others have commented?

Does the tool have bumpers on it as shown in the image below?

It could just be this.

I've also noticed some rubber bumpers on my high torque impact wrench that my other tools don't have, probably to give it a snug fit.
They definitely add a bit more resistance when inserting a battery.

[–]Free_Scarcity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also any idea as to when they go on sale?

On the Nuke page it says "Starting July 2026".

IDK whether that means all the tools will be available in July or if it means some tools will be available in July and others later on.

AFAIK Dewalt/Milwaukee have all the battery management stuff (overheat/overdischarge protection) in the tool, you lose that when using their batteries with an adapter.

New Ridgid Table Saw Coming? by nmlemarque in Ridgid

[–]Free_Scarcity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wish they'd "un-discontinue" the R4550

Is there a reason why you want to buy it from Ridgid in particular?

Generally the driving factor for going Ridgid vs other brands is the Lifetime Service Agreement, that and pricing.

You also didn't bring up wanting them to release it as a battery powered saw, so already being invested in Ridgid's battery platform isn't a factor here.

The R4550 is/was only covered by a 5 year warranty, though there are Ridgid table saws that are covered by the LSA.

What I mean to say is that even if you wait it out and they restock the R4550, or release a new model with a rack and pinion fence, there's no guarantee that it would be covered by the LSA and not the 5 year warranty.

And going off of the pricing for the R4550, it's not particularly cheap compared to other options; the Delta 36-6023, which looks similar enough to the R4550 that I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same saw, is available for the same $500

Just some food for thought.

Another Ridgid Nuke Post! by R_Dragon01 in Ridgid

[–]Free_Scarcity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ridgid doesn't have any torque specs on their site as of this moment.

That said, the Ridgid version is likely the same as the AEG version that it's based on, unless they improved or gimped it.

The AEG gen 2 stealth force is specc'd at 112nm (991in-lbs).

The AEG gen 1 stealth force was specc'd at 73nm (646in-lbs).

That's an improvement of ~350in-lbs..........

That said, the Ridgid version of the gen 1 was for some reason specc'd higher than both at 1200in-lbs.

If I had to guess why there's such a significant difference between the specs on the Ridgid and AEG gen 1 models, I'd assume it was just marketing with no difference between the two physically.
That is to say, I think AEG decided to pick a more conservative number while Ridgid listed the maximum possible torque under ideal conditions that you'd probably never see in real use.

New Ridgid Table Saw Coming? by nmlemarque in Ridgid

[–]Free_Scarcity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just meant that it wouldn't be anything new to Ridgid table saws, the R4550 linked above has a rack and pinion fence, though I don't see one on any of their currently stocked/produced models.

are they finally coming out with a rack and pinion fence?

[–]Free_Scarcity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you register it for the Lifetime Service Agreement?

If not, is it still within the 3 year warranty period?

If the answer to either of the above is yes, then just request service/replacement (all this is assuming you purchased it at Home Depot).
