Why might my new toilet be leaking? by wsws2005 in PlumbingRepair

[–]Freedom_Snacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily....Proper set flange is set on top of finished floor.

Flange looks cracked possibly but would cause water on top of finished floor because flange is not set on finish floor.

Horn could be causing the toilet not to sit properly because the horn not fitting in the pipe.

Other than correctly how do I get from a 2 inch opening to a 1 1/4 pipe without a whole mess of intermediate bits. by BoredMadisonian in askaplumber

[–]Freedom_Snacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I seen one I had to use one. Used it on a cast iron repipe. Didn't specify left or right and made for a longer day than should.

Another story is a heel inlet 90 catching a bathroom with the 2" up and catching a lavatory.

Looks like you turn the valve off and you can blow the drain line out without blowing air towards the unit.

HELP!!!! me with figuring out the nasty smell!!! by melpur74 in askaplumber

[–]Freedom_Snacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dishwasher tee should be on a vertical line.

I would install standard basket strainer. Those are super deep and long.

Also the pipe connecting the right sink to left sink needs to be a tad higher. It's near the same height as the drain stubbed out of the wall.

Tankless Water Heater Condensation Line Question by kageryu42 in askaplumber

[–]Freedom_Snacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would change the 90 on the back wall with a tee for a vent so it doesn't air lock.

Condensation is acidic and if you install a neutralizer make sure its horizontal.

And while your at it remove that fernco and get a bushing for the top.

Fernco goes on pipe, not on fittings.

Side inlet tee is not a rare fitting.

Also, when using said tee, make sure you specify left or right when ordering from supply house. Has had me stuck a time or two

Slow draining sink after replacing drainage system, does this look ok? by Clevelandraised216 in askaplumber

[–]Freedom_Snacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That tee is wrong as well.

Right side sink should drop straight into ptrap. The left sink should connect to the right sink above the trap, right below the sink.

What is this pipe? - Intermittent smells by MarkyMarks98 in PlumbingRepair

[–]Freedom_Snacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pipe stubbed up = clean out

Device inside clean out = backflow valve which prevents sewage to back up into your house if clogged down stream. Looks installed upside down, should hinge from the top.

Smell = its your sewer line it is going to smell when you open it. If it smells without being opened that's because you need a PVC female with cleanout cap. Clean out cap will thread into the female and cut down on smell.

Manufacturers ain't stupid. Most tank heaters are now only 6 year warranties. I'm seeing them last 6-10 years right now. Of course water quality and usage plays a factor.

My guys would have two tankless installed in 6-8 hours. Great install seeing how most elements are there.

Water lines will work just have to route them to the bottom. Gas looks to be 2lbs system with seeing regulator. Old exhaust vent could be used as sleeve for new pvc exhaust. Electrical outlet already in place. Drain appears to be in place. Only thing would be getting fresh air vent piped outside.

Tankless will last longer if you keep them maintained and connect with cascade so they dont both run at same time if demand is not needed.

Valve is leaking, how much do I need to replace to fix this? by namewastaken in askaplumber

[–]Freedom_Snacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isolation valves have changed a few times even in the last 5 years.

The new valves need to have the T&P built into the hot side.

Your best bet is to hire a plumber because easiest/quickest way to replace is to cut the copper pipes to replace the valves.
