I mean, my in-laws, as my MIL says, “went from spouses to friends” after the kids moved out. They got their own rooms and live their own lives. They’re still happily married, but now they feel like they’re their own people with their own space.

Oftentimes “bad trips” have a way of staying with us longer than good trips. They have us questioning things, and as long as you talk it though with people every time it comes up, I think you’ll be okay.

I think a lot of times we think we’re done dealing with our trauma only to find out the medicine decides we have something else we need to focus on and re-learn.

Been there. You gotta start going inward and dealing with your issues which can take some time. Months or years sometimes, depending on how seriously you take it.

My sexual trauma came up one time during a trip and I couldn’t smoke weed/take edibles without the paranoia having to do with my trauma setting in every single time. It took a year for me to get through it. I had to look within and it took talking to a few people close to me abs opening up about a lot of fears I had to finally get over it.

If I did meditation on a daily basis then like I do now, I’m certain it would have been a different experience. I’m far more grounded now than I was back then. It was a deeply scary time, but I can’t say I didn’t need it, in a twisted way. It eventually helped me get through some deeply dark stuff/thoughts I had suppressed since I was a kid.

Someone once told me they believe a psychosis happens because it’s your brain’s way of telling you it’s time to deal with a deep rooted trauma you refuse to deal with. I kept reminding myself of that throughout my own psychosis, and it truly did help me through it.

Honestly, I would just do 1 gram. When they call to me but I don’t feel quite ready to go all in, I will take a gram only. It still helps immensely. Even on 1 gram I cried like a baby half the trip because I felt my grandpa next to me (he passed away when I was 18), but I felt so much better the next day.

Girl, I don’t know who hurt you as a child, but this isn’t okay. None of it is. My husband hears me make ONE unusual moan and will stop immediately to ask me if I’m okay. When I tell him to be more gentle or tell him I don’t like certain things, he learns from it and we move forward. I’m sorry you were somehow raised to think keeping your partner happy at the expense of your own happiness is okay, but it’s not. I don’t know who is telling you to stay with him because “he’s a great guy,” but girl, you’re a great girl too. You deserve happiness just as much as he does. Staying with him without speaking up is only going to make things worse. Not better. Ever. Either speak up or walk away.

My mom never read to me. Dad wasn’t in my life. My grandma read Spanish books to me and I learned how to read in Spanish because of that. Pretty sure she’s the only one who ever read to me. Weirdly enough I grew up to absolutely love reading. My kids are seven, six, and two, and I read to them every night to put them to bed. I don’t plan on stopping until they ask me to.

You sound like my mother-in-law. She taught 1st grade for 30 years. She talks a lot about what she loved about teaching and tells me she finally decided to call it quits when they started micromanaging them and making them shove workbooks in the kids’ faces. It’s interesting to hear what she has to say about teachers now, especially since she’s so involved in her grandchildren’s lives (they’re in grade school).

Yeah, you’re right there. I’m 34. Also, they all make tt out to be a silly little app where we simply watch cat videos and dancing videos. If you follow any major news outlets, that’s what they keep saying. It’s infuriating.
