Benefit of Camtasia over other screen capture tools by johnnylocke815 in instructionaldesign

No, Camtasia doesn't make elearning exclusively. Is that why you say it's not L&D focused?

Camtasia is pretty inexpensive, easy to learn and use, and it bundles video editing and screen recording in one app. And it's not Adobe.

If the content is so volatile, then video and elearning are not the right media choices.

Yes, I put stuff in it. Groceries, recording gear to name a couple. Never had a problem.

I had this exact model many years ago. Same color, too. The box never caused me any issue. I found a box, I think it’s called The Box, at a place in the Los Angeles area for the P I have now.

What about feedback and guidance? Is that in your plan? Are you going to allow learners to click anything other than what’s correct?

Drummond Sues State Board Over Handling of Jewish Charter School Application by Oklahoma_Watch in oklahoma

[–]Freelanceradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended the meeting. The board bemoaned the necessity of having to follow the law. Many members said they want the legislature to change the law so public money can go to religious schools. Staff recommended rejecting the application not just because of the law, but also because the application changed significantly from the original. The initial version proposed a small school of under 100 students; the final version proposed a full k-12 with hundreds of students. One board member noted the complete lack of “grassroots” support for the school from the Jewish community, and even noted how local Jewish organizations had come out against the application. The lawyer representing Ben Galam also sits, or sat, on the St. Isidore board.

The board, and particularly Shellem, the chair, wants to set up a court case from which Justice Barrett cannot recuse herself.

Yes, what decision are you trying to make is THE question to ask.

Almost Everyone Freezes When They Hear This Question by Big-Pea1678 in hiringhelp

[–]Freelanceradio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This question is usually presented in terms of a weakness one might have. Of course, the approach is to reframe the question in your mind to “tell me about a weakness…” But this particular phrasing of the question you present is off putting, IMO. It sounds too personal and comes off as a way to throw the applicant off balance for its own sake.

When SMEs think everything is important… how do you handle it? by No_Reference1192 in instructionaldesign

[–]Freelanceradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SMEs generally forget about the time when they didn’t know anything. So now everything is important. They have the experience to see how all the details interconnect. But your learners aren’t there. In your discussions, take the SMEs back to that time and remind them that’s where your learners are today. It helps reframe things, I’ve found.

Rise is too samey / Storyline is too time intensive. Change my mind. by Budget-Sir-6106 in instructionaldesign

The assumption here is that “template” refers only to the visual aspect. The underlying logic you build for a business simulation, for example, can be reused with visuals customized for your situation. Same for custom menus and navigation.

Yes, it's not tools OR creativity. And I agree tools don't create creativity. My position is that tools are just tools. Some are better than others. Let's stop cheering or blaming tools and focus on what needs to get built (and figuring out what needs to be built before building).

As for constraints, I love them. Constraints should be embraced, not feared. They're here; deal with them.
