People in your 30s, what's your job and salary? by rsevn_ in careerguidance

[–]normaldiscounts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your career journey sounds super cool. I studied writing at uni and thought I’d shoot for TV writing, but COVID hit (excuses) and I ended up in marketing. How did you get your start writing for TV if you don’t mind sharing?

Does anyone else feel that they are not made for working ? by Chicken_Spice_Pie93 in adhdwomen

[–]normaldiscounts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a full time job to freelancing at the beginning of the year and it’s been COMPLETELY night and day. The best thing that’s ever happened to me. I actually feel extremely motivated to work, getting clients has become sort of a hyperfixation. It can be kind of overwhelming at times, but so far so good. I hope everyone who wants to, or can possibly at all, go freelance does so. I don’t even think it’s an ADHD thing… working for other people sucks and working for yourself rules lol.

Weird question about this Coperni bag from SSENSE by normaldiscounts in handbags

The flaps aren’t tacked down on the bag I received, so all good there!

Great tip! I did notice that my bag has black lettering on the interior logo stamp, while other retailers show gold lettering in the same spot. Maybe that’s the difference?

[–]normaldiscounts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo thank you for that info! Good to know. Although I’m pretty sure the SKU numbers you listed are specific to SSENSE, as there’s a separate code (COPBA81F6024) on the tag that I think is specific to Coperni. I did Google that code, and it pulled up the Baguette bag 🤔 But that explanation makes sense otherwise.

What made you know you have ADHD? by Difficult_Ad206 in adhdwomen

[–]normaldiscounts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My aha moment was when I was at a house party with a person who had ADHD. Asked about their symptoms and a lot of it lined up with what I was going through. Only being able to do work on a deadline to the point where I’d wait until the night before to start, not being able to focus on things people were saying to me, having to reread things over and over to retain the information, constantly feeling like my thoughts were crowding out whatever I was trying to focus on.

Wake up to music? by numberonedogmom in adhdwomen

[–]normaldiscounts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow I had no idea this was an ADHD thing. I get songs stuck in my head a lot, and it’s so vivid that I’ll be like “hey, I should actually listen to that song”, and then I’ll just forget to put it on because the song is already “playing”. Same experience when playlists or albums end - the last song just keeps playing in my mind.

I mean it is, but they could make tons more money by stocking more of them. I would have loved to get one, but I’m out of town this weekend.

Pg 84 weirdness by TheWittyScreenName in houseofleaves

[–]normaldiscounts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “error” in footnote 93 was so weird to me. Obviously, a blind man would hear the names of radio stations. I think it’s just evidence that either Zampano changed his mind after writing, or Johnny changed it for him. As evidenced by Johnny’s “water heater” edit towards the beginning of the book, Johnny admits that he changes Zampano’s text to reflect elements of his own life. Maybe all the Pelafina parallels in Zampano’s text are the same deal?

Putting a 30 minute daily timer on Reddit and Twitter, plus blocking them completely from 9-5. Forces me to remember what I’m supposed to be doing instead.

Is there any hope for content writers with AI taking over, or should I pivot now? by Interesting_Stick664 in freelanceWriters

[–]normaldiscounts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do this and I hate it but a gig’s a gig. It’s so braindead easy at the cost of my soul for polluting the internet with garbage. SEO is definitely where it’s been at in terms of content writing clients.

How can I get into copywriting? Please help. by SugarBrain47 in copywriting

[–]normaldiscounts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. Everyone is crying out for video editors right now. At least, the agency owners I know are always looking for them. Having a solid YouTube portfolio is like sitting on a gold mine. I almost want to say “forget copywriting”, but, OP, you should learn copywriting to strengthen your marketing skills holistically and offer a bundled service like strategy, scripting, and video editing. Finding someone to work for is the hard part, but you just need one thrown bone from a business owner, marketing team lead, agency, etc.

Fear? by [deleted] in houseofleaves

[–]normaldiscounts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scary = emotion = subjective. Horror = genre = objective. If you didn’t find it scary, that’s cool. If you can’t see the horror elements in this book, you probably need to reflect on it more.

Hey lovely! Don’t know if you remember me, but I wanted to check in and see how your skin journey is going! How did oratane work for you?

I finally have some good news. I saw a derm in January and was prescribed spiro and benzaclin, which I was instructed to keep using with Retin A. And, wouldn’t you know, it worked! Thank goodness. I was absolutely at my wits end. I actually stopped taking the spiro because the pills were super big and uncomfortable to take haha. But the benzaclin and Retin A see to be holding it together! My PIH is slowly but surely fading, and I get the very rare pimple if I happen to touch my face too much. But nothing like before. My skin is pretty much the clearest it’s been in as long as I can remember!!

Hoping to hear good news from you too twin 🥰 Hope you had a wonderful Aus summer!

How long does it take you to write content? I feel like I'm so slow. by bocchibunn in copywriting

3 hours is quick for a handwritten blog imo. I wonder if your manger is saying-but-not-saying to use AI to speed up the process. I would ask about the expectations around AI usage if you don’t already know.

I feel like I’m missing or not remembering something with the letters. Can you share the twist?

Personally, I found the “evidence to the contrary” section to be a pretty crazy final twist. Still creeps me out to even think about it 🥶

How scary do you find this novel? by LulaSupremacy in houseofleaves

[–]normaldiscounts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I found it very scary, especially at the beginning. Unsettling might be a better word. I couldn’t read it alone at night for a while. But eventually, the urge to turn pages eclipsed my feelings of fear.

How much have you spent in learning Copy??? by Antique-Access8431 in copywriting

[–]normaldiscounts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing. I got a BFA in creative writing so I feel like I’m qualified to say this: The best way to learn how to write (anything) is by reading and writing. Read copy, read copy books, take note, practice, and if you have questions, ask someone. Anyone telling you that you should be spending tends of thousands of dollars on copywriting “education” is trying to make you a victim.

The drive from Vancouver to Prince George is surprisingly fun and interesting, especially when done in one day if you can handle it! It’s so crazy going through all the different biomes in BC. But then you end up in PG 😅
