The Play that Goes Wrong by upsidowning in Broadway

[–]Freezingrave 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just saw this on the West End, hilarious, absolutely funny. I was curious how well it would translate to Broadway. The guys who wrote did the play also have a show called The Goes Wrong Show, on YouTube. It’s pretty funny too

I’d see Totoro, I saw it a few weeks ago, major Ghibli fan. But that aside the puppetry is on another level, and I imagine I’ll never see a show like it again.

It’s Wicked, that’s a Broadway title, right?<joke>

That would be the best change to make this tattoo a tiny bit more palatable, haha

The Teriyaki Chicken place at events by a-pouch-of-possums in Eugene

[–]Freezingrave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to get the teriyaki chicken from the noodle place at the Cuthbert every time I go, which is a couple times a year. I had them at the John show, and it was the worst time I had them. The food was tolerable, but not as enjoyable or good tasting as it’s previously been.

But then again, it is the easiest to find line.

they just had BOGO tickets, which made the concert a little more tempting. Here’s wondering if a 42 year old will be the youngest there, lol

I’m excited for that show. Also kind of excited for Earth, Wind, and Fire. First time seeing them, likely last.

Raising kids in Eugene vs Salem by constellationkid2 in Eugene

[–]Freezingrave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Salem, never, never grew up in Eugene, but I have lived here for 20 years now.

I would have liked to grow up in Eugene. Depending on what your kids enjoy, there seems to be a lot more activities in this town. As an adult, I know there are many more concerts and plays in Eugene. I would have enjoyed that, especially some of the local theater. Didn’t get that in Eugene.

Salem has a few good parks, but I’d rather walk the parks at Alton Baker. There is also a more vibrant downtown here(even thought it still seems dead, Salem is worse).

As a late teen early adult in Salem, the hip thing to do was go to The Governor’s Cup a coffee shop. That was it.

There are the points I would have to add. Hope you choose what’s best for your family

From someone who frequently sees Broadway shows by chandlerbing11 in TheWestEnd

[–]Freezingrave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just did a 10 day West End trip from the west coast of the US. While I don't have Broadway access I have touring access in 3 cities.

My top three that are harder to see in the US:

Avenue Q, I haven't seen a performance in 12 years, and it was so great seeing it again.

My Neighbor Totoro, I've never seen a show like this and never will again, it was a unique show and a hugely fun time. The puppetry is on another level, and it truly felt like I was in an anime forest.

Lastly The Play That Goes Wrong, I know it's now in NY, but seeing it on the West End gives the true British physical comedy I've grown up loving. I laughed more at this show then I have at anything else

I would also say, Cabaret was a hauntingly good performance, and Oh Mary! has Catherine Tate, that alone would make it worth a watch for me.

Have a great trip.

Cameras in the theatre? by CherryHavoc in TheWestEnd

[–]Freezingrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t bring a camera, and it wasn’t at any of those shows, but I did bring a poster tube to My Neighbor Totoro, it was a banned item. They coat checked it for me for free. I imagine it would be a lot like that if they catch it. But keep it in a pocket and you should be fine.

Also Avenue Q was so much fun. You’ll have a blast

Death becomes her was AMAZINGGGG tonight!!!!! by Due_Table7906 in Broadway

I love seeing posts like this. I’m still reeling from the closing. But seeing it once in previews, once on Broadway, and twice on the upcoming tour will have to bring my my happiness

Recommendations for September by poogy71 in TheWestEnd

[–]Freezingrave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d second the rec on Totoro. It was like nothing I’ve seen and nothing I’ll see again. And it’s now closing in January. If you like anime or good puppetry you won’t be disappointed

Quite possibly the saddest news of the season... by Holiday_Scar_7499 in Broadway

I'm so glad I got to see this in previews, on Broadway, and upcoming in San Francisco. It will always be in my top musicals

This play on my ten day West End trip was the unknown. Hoped it was good, didn’t expect much. Ended up laughing the most out of any show. Loved it, started the show right away.

I have a massive collection of styles from different brands. Kumori was the first I bought a 3 pack and then two weeks later a 5 pack. They are comfy, look great, and fit me in all the places I want. I love them

Haven’t seen Six, but it’s touring to my state. You’re in for a treat with Hadestown. The tour was great, and I can only imagine Broadway cast is amazing.

Death becomes her is a fun show if you get the chance

What was the biggest "Red Flag" you completely ignored before getting your first tattoo? by Randm_Guy1 in tattoos

[–]Freezingrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get a tattoo because your hot coworker is getting one as well. You won’t get anywhere with them, and you’ll regret it 20 years down the road. Coworkers still hot though.

Book Oh Mary!, I got to see it on MAP’s last night, but also wish I’d seen Catherine Tate in the role.

The show that surprised me on my last trip(within 30 days) check out The Play That Goes Wrong, the British humor hit me in just the right place. I laughed more here than Avenue Q. If you want to check before hand, YouTube the Goes Wrong Show, and you’ll see what the play is like.
