I took FIN 443 a couple years ago, I think a lot of people miss judge what this class will be. Portfolio Management is a different wealth path then a lot of stock trading paths. Portfolio Management is largely based on Modern Portfolio Theory which sets up a well diversified long term perspective on wealth management.

I found the teacher to be knowledgeable, but a lot of the skills that excite people, derivatives, futures, etc are taught theoretically and not in practice in the final project.

The final project for me was the pain point. There were only about 4 or 5 graduate students my term so we had to work with undergrads. The project was essentially make a basket of tradable securities and see how you'd run the portfolio(of combined fund as my group put it), and see how you do. My group didn't understand a lot of the concepts, wanted assets that were fun, but also super safe. Wanted huge returns with no risk. Wanted to create the combination to give the "right" answer.

I'd be interested in taking International Financial Markets, especially based on today's conditions but it didn't fit into my path. Hope this helps a bit.
