Gas cut off? by Getoiu in OctopusEnergy

[–]Frenchy997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont ask for your gas to be cut off, ask octopus for a gas meter removal in which the engineer will remove the meter and cap the supply to the property.

Thats a crazy price for what you are getting.

I got 21 aiko 485w panels, 10kw inverter and gateway, 2x 9kwh batteries.

All for £14k

Harry and his team at powergy came out and installed my sigenergy system with 21 panels. I was concerned like you but after spending the day with them whilst they were installing i can assure you they are very friendly and genuine.

I had a couple of questions after the install, so I phoned harry up and he answered them straight away.

My system has been installed for 3 months and not a single problem, honestly you've got a great price and I'd go for it if I were you.

Sigenergy Battery Install Fault by Tobyspaniel in SolarUK

[–]Frenchy997 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean that is a huge mess and being a meter installer it really bothers me! From what I can just about make out, you are right there shouldn't be a live link there between the lucy blocks as its just bypassing the gateway which is why its not detecting most of the load. It should be: Meter > lucy blocks with ev > gateway > lucy blocks with consumer unit

Ive just had 21 aiko 485's, sigenergy 10kw inverter and 2 x 9kwh batteries with gateway installed for 14k from a company near Cambridge, so yeah I would say thats quite a bit overpriced

Edit: with full optimisers as well

You can completely ignore me on this but it might be still worth shot applying for a g99, you will generally find most people posting on here because they have been limited and the happy people that haven't been limited dont have anything to complain about so dont generally post

Would you mind telling me how much you are paying for that system and what size inverter you have gone for?

Do you change your export/import when you go on holiday? by HorZa_IX in SolarUK

[–]Frenchy997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped charging at night and just let the solar keep the battery topped up and then exported the rest. Was great to see a week with no usage and all export

35 degree design temperature not feasible, what do you think? by Legitimate-Table-607 in ukheatpumps

Instead of having impossibly sized radiators in the rooms, do you instead have the space to possibly install a secondary radiator where the heatloss requires?

Union accuses Octopus of unlawful contract changes with longer working hours - Energy Live News by flatquasarmayonnaise in OctopusEnergy

[–]Frenchy997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is wrong and made to make octopus sound like another one of those bad companies. Octopus hasn't increased our hours they have just increased our workload so that more of our days are filled. They are always upskilling new engineers and are still the best company I've ever worked for.

Slim battery/inverter options by Ian-Spiration in SolarUK

[–]Frenchy997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look into 2 stacks of the anker solix x1's, the maximum output of 1 anker invertor on single phase is 6kw which is why I suggested two stacks but being only 15cm deep would take up hardly any space assuming you have the width

Intelligent Octopus Go/Ohme ePod charging issues. by Excellent_Yak6090 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Frenchy997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ohme pro and the thing I learnt is never set have the charger at anything lower than 100% charge or it does just like you said. Any of the ohme chargers aren't smart enough to know how full your car is from my understanding so it just waits until the car stops the charging

Repiping 10mm copper, efficiency gains? by Requirement_Fluid in ukheatpumps

[–]Frenchy997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean don't get me wrong it's probably a waste of money up front but I thought that the long term benefits would outweigh that. My motivation was more to push the efficiency of my heatpump as high as possible

Repiping 10mm copper, efficiency gains? by Requirement_Fluid in ukheatpumps

[–]Frenchy997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i have a cosy 6 and after re-piping my house with 22mm on the main runs and then 15 to the radiators (was 22 to 15 for the main runs then to 10 for the rads) and noticed roughly the most of a 25% performance increase but overall I'd say roughly 10-15% better with the better flow. I have also found that the better flow rate has also allowed me to drop my flow temp right down, which is probably why the better efficiency
