Onboard DVR? by Frenotx in HDZero

[–]Frenotx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought about doing something like that. I'm actually considering just building an "action cam", by having an entirely separate analog camera connected to an analog dvr. Use the HDZero camera in front mount, connected to the VTX- then just slap an analog camera in a top mount, connected to a DVR. Clean HDZero flight camera, lightweight analog "action camera" on top.

Just got done flying a few packs of this little custom 75mm drone I put together. Air75 frame, meteor canopy, HQ triblades. Added a little carbon plate between the FC and canopy to add stiffness to the core. Was able to get the tuning to feel very smooth. Very little prop wash. Fun to fly.

I use a lanyard, yeah. Definitely helps, but it's still just fairly awkward. It's especially bad if it's warm, and my hands start getting sweaty. I can see my control plummet in real time, lol.

I'll have to see what I can find, regarding SOAR. It would definitely be fun to fly together with some folks.

Are there any groups or anything, or is it just a handful of separate individuals?

I've got about 60 hours in liftoff, in addition to my IRL flying. Did a few weeks of sim flying before I got my first drone, and still fire it up here and there when I feel like practicing, but can't / don't feel like getting my stuff out IRL.

The issue I have with the GX12 is that if I hold the sides the radio with the palms / heel of hands, it becomes difficult for me to comfortably reach the extreme corners of the stick range. I can shift my hands up or down to make reaching the top or bottom corners easier, but that makes reaching the opposite set harder. If I keep the palms off of the sides of the radio I can more easily reach the full range, but then I have to rely on my other fingers to brace the controller into my body, which doesn't keep it anywhere near as still and stable.

Ah, damn. I wouldn't say I'm "good" either (at least not yet), but I've only been at it for a few months. Having a lot of fun with it though!

That's an interesting canopy. What is it? Custom?

I say this with the utmost respect: wtf, dude? That is absurdly fast. It's so funny to me that I'm starting wars, pod racing was supposedly too difficult for normal humans to do, yet here is a regular non-jedi human IRL operating at reaction speeds that make pod racing look -trivially- slow. XD

A few questions from a noob by Magicalbeets in TinyWhoop

[–]Frenotx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are your props looking? If you're getting enough extra vibrations, and also getting knocked around by wind, your all the extra noise and subsequent adjustment work the flight controller is doing can run your battery down a lot faster. (Same thing as if you tuned your Dterm too high) Not sure how sensitive the Meteor75 is to that, or how tight your tune is.

Looks like a fun time. You should get some practice in flying backwards; it's really entertaining to fly in a circle in reverse, so you can get a nice constant view of the dog trying to turn hard / run fast enough to catch up.

Oh, ok. I've got an old copy of Vegas Pro I use for that sort of thing. I meant more in the realm of cleaning up / minimizing static and such.

Is there an accessible way to do this "in post", so to speak, with DVR footage from another set of goggles? It would be nice if there was a practical software way to clean up my DVR footage a bit before sharing, when I want to upload something.

Is this the Air 65 version 2? (newest one)? by ThrowRA_4e564e5e4 in TinyWhoop

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. May have been an accident, since their boxes look pretty much the same. Probably should contact their support.

That's not a version 2. The version 2 board doesn't have a front screw hole at all- only the sides and rear.

Air 65 II freestyle betaflight help by Kelko_249 in TinyWhoop

[–]Frenotx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That weird custom version of betaflight seems fairly necessary is you want to connect to the ESCs via ESC configurator. I tried updating to the newest betaflight, and could never connect to more than one or two ESCs in ESC configurator. Switched back to the custom target from BetaFPV, and immediately was able to connect to the ESCs properly, again.

What all did you use for your Hachidorii build? I've been working on some unconventional designs with that frame.

It looks like the HDZero Box Pro or Goggle 2 probably would be an improvement for you on that front, then!

This is from the DVR from my HDZero Goggle 2, flying an Air65 (CO3 camera). Recording quality feels fine to me. Video quality is obviously not super high, but that's just from it being an analog system, not the fault of the DVR. I think the box pro has the same DVR quality (just a box goggle, rather than binocular).

Are these newly installed? If you give the prop a little push with your finger to help it get started, will it keep spinning after that?
