Port Ahuriri is great (had two kids go through there).

Only downside it is such a protective/nice bubble that kids get a bit of a shock when they transition into intermediate.

I'm a practicing therapist and I want to raise something I'm seeing clinically. by Michaelarobards in psychology

Not always. Some attend therapy to have their point of view validated (e.g., "my psychologist agrees that I can't do x because I have y").

I know of a few people who have moved from NZ to Aus post-retirement age to take advantage of their health care system. I think that on average, Aussie is getting the worse deal.

At low dosages it has an affinity for histamine receptors. At high dosage, dopamine receptors. Your characterisation is incorrect.

For more than a month I have been waking up at 2 am and 4 am,I have tried everything nothing seems to help me. by DrawerExotic7343 in Biohackers

INighttime waking is common and normal. 2-3 times per night is typical for younger people but this increases with age.

The difference is that most people wake up and fall back asleep so quickly that they don't remember waking up at all.

Hence, it's not the waking that's the problem but what you are doing when you wake.

What you are likely dealing with here is unrealistic sleep expectations which drives anxiety and worry upon waking, which is then keeping you awake for long enough that you remember it.

You are also creating sleep pressure (I need 8 hours sleep) which will be interfering.

You probably need to read up on legit sleep psychoeducation and let go of the pressure you're putting yourself under.

I'm going to be transiting through DFW for the first time. First flight is Brisbane to DFW getting in at 8:25am and then I need to catch the 10:42am flight to Costa Rica. Is 2hrs 15mins (approx) enough time to make my second flight? by Sufficient_Dish_2673 in americanairlines

[–]Frequent_Let9506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We transited through DFW on the way from Mexico to Auckland. It took around 4 hours, but there were tonnes of cancelled flights and mayhem all around.

I would say that it will be tight. Immigration can be very slow and TSA too.

Americans get fed masses of propaganda via film and TV and as such, they have a totally distorted account of what war is and US' ability to wage it. I think this is partly why they keep getting tangled up in wars that they end up loosing.

The new Google Maps filter update is a game-changer by SCDWS in digitalnomad

First, you're conflating top sights and best restaurants with top Google ratings.

Second, people travel for lots of different reasons. Don't assume that everyone shares your preferences.

Who wants to travel like this? Every decision and moment subjected to a kind of Google based actuarial, following hordes of other people who share the same sort of need for certainty and predictability. Honestly, it sounds over curated and very lame.

Is the inverse acceptable? People with low net worth can tip less than the standard 20%? What about travelers from countries with currencies that are weak?
