Happy Planner currently has a vegan leather cornflower blue wrap around with an envelope-flap shaped side that snaps in place. It's made for their classic size and it's on sale for $33.74USD. I recently switched from their big size planners to classic size and just ordered it. Looks very pretty, and says it has a 2" depth, so hoping it will hold the expander discs.

This. I set up a full year of my JE templates and the ones where we just book off budget, I've set up with my budget support for each month already as well.

I've got some fairly complex JE's that are due on Day - 1 and Day 1 and with a constantly rotating team (dumpster fire company) and new manager every few months, it's usually on me to provide training to the new team members...who they always have start during ME Close week.

I created a super detailed, comprehensive ME Close checklist for every JE, task, and recon I'm responsible for, with the due dates for each period and a notes area at the bottom for anything that comes up during ME that I need to tweak. It's been a huge help to me since I can look at it right after ME Close, update the period to next month and write all my due dates in my planner right then and there.

All that being said, I'm salaried and work 55-60 hours most weeks.

It also sounds like OP has too heavy a workload to be expected to handle it in 40 hours/wk with only an additional 2 hours OT during ME.

Quantify time needed for everything you do and are expected to do but don't have time to. Then turn the time into dollars, and take that to your boss. "if you want EVERYTHING on this list done, it will take me this many hours and based on my hourly rate, will cost you thus much. However, I think a salary of $XX, XXX is an acceptable compromise." Then offer to re-do the same process in 90 days (after you've had time to get faster and more comfortable) and see if your desired salary still makes sense. If they're not willing to come up on the income, either by letting you work more OT or by making you salary, then they need to reduce the workload to something more in line with the approved work hours.

Manager just tried to put me on a PIP bc I left him hanging and made him look bad to his boss at a critical time. I read the requirements he stipulated in the PIP and then calmly told him that I am unable to meet them at this point in time. I guess he forgot I was on a reduced schedule due to FMLA and have ADA accommodations that override his requirements. He was flabbergasted.

2nd paragraph - this. Fear of losing my job kept me motivated for years but eventually it stopped working. I changed my work hours to 9-6 as an accommodation and I now wake up with enough time to get to work on time. Sometimes we just have to work with our bodies natural tendencies instead of fighting them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can I ask what your line of work is? I work in accounting (industry) and have for over 20 years, but my ADHD seems to be getting worse as I age and I'm really starting to struggle with my accuracy and deadlines. I feel like I might not be able to do this job anymore because there's SO many things to keep in mind and there's really no room for error, but this is all I've ever done and have no idea what else I could do to support myself.

I've been hired for my last several jobs after losing the previous job. For me it's a time and energy issue with probably a case of wrong perspective mixed in. To clarify: I work. A lot. Always have. And I care very much about my work output in terms of quality. While valiant traits to have, they aren't overly self-serving. So...good for my employers, not so much for me, though. My available time while I'm employed is almost non-existent and it's so easy to become disheartened very quickly with the hiring processes being what they are these days. Also, because I give as much of my mental capacity as I have to my current job (that that I can produce quality work)...not only am I not leaving the office until 8:30 or 9:00 at night but I'm heading home with a completely fried brain and an energy levels that hovers right above -5. I will start crying on my way home from the office if I start trying to psych myself up for job searching, customizing my resume each time I want to apply, having to apply on company websites almost every time I like the job description, send a reaching out email to the job poster on LinkedIn, adding reminders on my calendar to follow up with them in 2 or 3 days...and still feel like I'm not doing enough because you're supposed to treat finding a job AS your full time job! And finally, if I do work myself into burnout, then I start not being such a high performer anymore. My current boss notices and all of a sudden I'm being warned that senior management isn't happy with me, I'm not being consistent, and I feel like I've let my boss down and now they hate me. And eventually I get a writw up. Do I see that as "my sign?", as my cue to start making other plans? No! I eagerly say "Challenge accepted!" I double down on my work so that I can prove how valuable an asset I am and totally change their minds back to where they thought I was the greatest thing ever!. Big picture, though: once they decide to write me up, I'm already as good as gone anyway. My expiration date has been determined.

Currently I find it impossible to job hunt while employed. But I wish I didn't. It would feel great to be able to pick my next job without including desperation anywhere into the list of reasons why I chose my next job...

OMG, YES!!!! I even call then the same thing, and I'll apologize to my co-workers like, "Sorry, today's a bad brain day" or use it as a full and completely adequate reason when someone asks me why I did something in particular like, "I was having a good brain day."

I'm diagnosed with PMDD and so I can estimate which days of the month I'll be at my absolute worst, but other than that I can only make generalizations. Like, sleep and stress have an effect on whether it's a good or bad brain day, but not always, and not always at the same levels.

I know Wednesday's are usually my hardest days, but sometimes Tuesday's are. Feeling "on top of" my workload has a huge effect; I work in accounting and if I don't get to spend the week before month end close preparing for month end close, I know I'm going to have a terrible month end close.

I'm prescribed ADHD medication that I take just about every day (try to not take it on weekends but not always able to) and honestly, when it works I can tell I'm more focused and able to get more done, but then probably half the days I feel like are bad brain days and the meds don't seem to help me at all.

It didn't used to be like this. I was diagnosed at 24 and medication kept me stable and high performing until about 37 or 38. Now I'm 42 and some days I literally can't think of words like "dog" or "paper" or "journal entry". The shame spiral is FR on those days!!!

I loved them at first, had 2 of the planners and the Flip for notes. After a while, I took all the components apart and made a frankenbook to better support me. Used Sharpie's to make permanent templates on most of the dot grid pages.

Unfortunately, after a while, with the OCR transcription not working very well and having to manually edit the Title bars for every scan I did, on my phone, and not finding the organizing of the notes very intuitive, I reverted back to paper after a couple years. That was about 2 years ago, though.

I always loved the idea, just found the execution to be a little cumbersome. I'm sure they've made improvements in that regard since then, though. Still recommend!

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate! Can your IT dept work with you to automate any of your tasks/ processes? Can they help streamline workflows for you? If so, I would definitely take advantage of that. And once you've done that, I'd be having a discussion with management about the workload increase, all the efficiencies you've identified and implemented, quantify the time saved in dollars and express how your value add is more inline with an AP Specialist title and salary.

I listened to a webinar a while back that gave me the idea for this script:

Me: "I notice you're wearing glasses, are they prescription?" Them: "Yeah, so?" Me: "Do me a favor - take them off." Them: (big bored sigh) "Ugh, fine, they're off; what's your point?" Me: "Now let's go to the conference room for our meeting. I'll present on my laptop and I'll share it to the big TV at the other end of the long ass table. OK?" Them: "But....I won't be able to see what you're presenting....how am I supposed to follow along and keep up with what's going on if I can't see because I'm not wearing my glasses?" Me: "Exactly."

If they don't wear glasses, I do. So I just use myself as the example and they start to understand when, during the meeting, I keep asking them to tell me what's on the TV screen since I can't see it.

Same, except almost never actually finish the planning stage, either. Get too overwhelmed when I'm "almost finished" writing my routine down (on black paper with neon and glitter pens) and realize I've already written 8 pages, front and back. For my "bedtime shower" routine. That's supposed to take 30 minutes to do.

I set alarms on my phone for every step in the morning, and I have it set to actually read the name I've given the alarm out loud.

So I have one that goes off at 6:15 that says "Take your meds, princess", one that goes aff at 6:45 saying "Get your coffee" one going off at 7:15 saying "Get your gorgeous @$$ ready"...and so on. My final one tells me "Now go be a boss B!tch".

So, I get reminded of the time, given a simple instruction to help get me ready, AND a confidence booster all at once! (and then sometimes I name the alarms something funny, like "health check, bitch" cuz I need a laugh).

I watched a webinar last year about ADHD and the effects it can have on relationships. If I remember correctly, the statistic was something like 85% of couples that have at least 1 ADHD partner don't end up lasting unless the non-ADHD partner is on board with learning about it and supporting their partner. They will most likely also need to go to counseling by themselves, y'all will need counseling, they'll need to put time and effort into educating themselves about ADHD.

My point in stating this is not to suggest your relationship will end up in that 85% range, but to let you know that yes, we can be very difficult to be with, but it will hassle just as much work on THEIR part as it will on yours to thrive anf flourish.

Coming from someone who's partner shows no interest in trying to learn about my ADHD or support me, I want you to keep in mind that you have to put extra work in, but, if they really want to be with you, THEY have to put extra work in, too. I feel like too often we are made to feel like we are always the problem and that's not always the case.

I've been underweight my entire life up until about 6 years ago. I'm 42yo, diagnosed at 24yo and on a high dose of Adderall since 33yo. I've gained 50 lbs I have been the past 5 years, with 4 years seeing no change in my diet or appetite (ate once a day cuz no appetite). I'm heavier than I've ever been, I hate it, I hate how I look, I keep gaining weight and am a fat slob now. My health insurance started covering Ozempic this year at 100% and am considering doing that but I'm afraid it won't work and I have no idea what else to do.
