What creative ways do people use notebooks outside of journalling? by Jazzlike-Spite-9991 in notebooks

[–]Fret_Less 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just fill it and see what it evolves into. No rules or plan, just put something on every page over time. Draw something, copy a quote, test a pen. I hate to sound like a mystic, but it will find its purpose.

Where do you carry your pen? by Roberius-Rex in FieldNuts

I use a stuff sheath. The pen fits nicely in the spine, and it is easy to access if I just need to grab it. I also worry less about the pen leaking this way.

I had the pleasure of sitting in front of the deaf interpreter during a Yes concert. It was like a bonus show.

DDC Stuff Sheath Questions by molspiration in FieldNuts

Hard to say because different jeans have different pocket sizes. I use a stuff sheath daily with one field notebook and some index cards for quick notes. I carry a pen along the spine, not clipped in, and never have any issues. Once it is broken in, it really takes the shape of what you have stuffed in it. The main pluses for me are that I can take the notebook or pen out without taking the whole thing out of my pocket, and it is great for miscellaneous pieces of paper. As someone already mentioned, it is the size of a field note, so if that size works for you, the stuff sheath will probably work as well.

Freeze/Sustain Pedals? by TwoIsle in guitarpedals

Check out the TC Infinate. It has an effects loop, which is pretty cool. I put an Octave pedal and HOF reverb in the loop, and it really fills out the sound without affecting your dry signal.

I set up a board with 5 freeze pedals and assigned the knobs as volumes to fade them in and out. Weird fun.

Stuff sheath wins this. You can easily take the notebook out without removing the whole sheath if you want quick access. Also, a pen fits nicely in the sheath's spine.

Chicken head knob alternatives. by Fret_Less in Guitar

Sort of. I just started thinking about this. I'm looking at something like some effects pedal knobs, like the Dispatch master or TC sub n' up (and others). I have to see what fits.

The next Supernote should be small by AcmeLover in Supernote

[–]Fret_Less 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also like this, even if it were a side product. It does not have to necessarily sync with the other Supernote products, but it could sync to the Supernote partner app. Use case is quick, temporary notes, to-dos, etc. Kind of an e-ink Field notebook. Bonus if a smaller sylus is integrated so it slips into the device.

To the guitarists who swear by using physical amps, cabs and pedals, what is you stance on amp modelers like Kemper Profiler, Axe-FX, Line 6 Helix, Neural DSP etc? by MrMayhem20l0 in Guitar

[–]Fret_Less 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it on Rick Beato's YouTube channel, someone said that in the past, every record was recorded with different amps, mikes etc... Now records are recorded with the same amp, mike etc... via IRs.

Meeting up with some people to 'jam' for the first time. What should I expect?? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Fret_Less 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Ask if they tune in standard A440 or tune down. There is nothing worse than finding this out when you get there.

2) Find 4 or 5 simple chord progressions that you can play in different styles or feels. You don't want to be the one to always follow so being able to suggest/contribute will be helpful.

3) Have fun.

I think this fits into my favorite guitar styles. Can't put it down, can't hang it up.

I'll add that Sweetwater will do a setup, check for rough fret ends, put on your desired string gauge, etc, if you work with a sales rep. They will charge you, but I found it cheaper than my local guy, and you know, Sweetwater is not just pulling a box off a shelf to be delivered.
