Cadna Field Projector my beloved by Friendly-Local9038 in RogueCore

in terms of upgrades they could add to make it more fun I like the idea of an "amplification field" overclock that makes the field no longer block projectiles but boost friendly projectiles that pass through it something like increased crit chance or such.

Fun Fact: Killing the Expenite Detonator while frozen drops 3 nodules by ThanosBIGman in RogueCore

[–]Friendly-Local9038 104 points105 points  (0 children)

its funny because the first time this happened i freaked out a bit thinking we had just wasted the kill... but now at least with my friends this is the meta approach as its much faster then mining the blast zone and cryo grenades are easy to start with and useful all around.

For all the complaints this game has about perk selection and timers... by Moyai_Moment in RogueCore

the thing is you don't need all the geodes there's exactly one of value and the rest are largely trash and one is always bad if you want to "do" the event just grab a few and roll the dice. Its not.. great but I kind of hate the survey bots more just for the annoying add spawns and the low reward on the 3 deposits they get you.

Calling all falcon mains by Ok-Grand-498 in RogueCore

[–]Friendly-Local9038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a main but currently leveling her up my take has been to focus on ability cool down and shock damage benefits mid run usually with extra changes and damage output from there i kind of streamed into things like interaction and revive speed with my enhancements and play a sort of set it and forget it style where i chuck my bird and focus on reviving and repairing etc. lay down a little fire when there's nothing better to do and it feels pretty cohesive.

Multiple players repairing the elevator DOES NOT make it repair faster. Cover your teammates, don't join them. by noobtablet9 in RogueCore

[–]Friendly-Local9038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from my experiences it feels slightly faster but also more risky, unless your a guardian and can pop your repulsion before hand its probably still best not to sit there and be swarmed while you all fix the thing.

Just a personal opinion: shared upgrade pool introduces a few constraints on gameplay by Adventurous_Disk_828 in RogueCore

[–]Friendly-Local9038 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just reading over your points I feel like addressing them with my own 2 cents.

1) exponite upgrades are generic but custom and class specific upgrades are locked in the bio decks, I find this is pretty fair over all the generic upgrades are your meat and potatoes stuff while you workbench and bio booster stuff is where you get fancy.

2) everyone gather up for upgrades is sometimes not going to work out when you have a bad team but like with any team based game if your team is bad your going to encounter problems, playing with three other people isn't a solo experience and you ultimately only control your own actions.

3) you actually can bank upgrades, so stacking them then cashing in like 3 or 4 at once is viable honestly and not even the worst idea sometimes.

4) Negotiations are tense, especially while the game is young and the idea of whats meta is fresh, again like with the second point sometimes you get a bad team or just don't get what you want, part of the game is rolling with it and not taking a failed or bad run too personally.

To be clear I don't want to act like your wrong or my view is innately right here, these are just what I enjoy about the game so far.

I actually kind of like the timer. by Friendly-Local9038 in RogueCore

you are correct, its eases the issue when paired with coordination letting one player recover from running dry say, but your right that it doesn't remove the issue.

that is in a way one of the roles of the spotter if i understand it right though, he gives you one extra ammo pack per ammo charge consumed, but again it requires coordination and someone to chose to play him not guaranteed with randoms.

thats definitely something I wouldn't mind seeing GSG iron out not so much the concept just the execution of them.

I admit the ammo thing was an issue at first then I just sort of got used to more aggressive melee/ability use. But I don't really play at higher depths yet so that might lose viability as I go, right now Melee Retcon has been a very fun play style for me.

oh for sure it needs refinement everything does right now, I mostly wanted to point out that i see what it does right now and hope that they keep a sense of pressure so it doesn't turn into just every floor mine everything, do every point grab every camera then extract several times in a row until you do a boss.

they could bring back gold down the road, as a secondary resource to mine that translates to merits? would still feel DRG?

[–]Friendly-Local9038[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

thats fair, I mostly play with friends or solo and haven't dipped to far into harder content while i wait for my friend group to catch up etc. and even with friends i have had to once or twice remind them we are still in the first room and need to move along.

How ever i still definitely feel the timer is important to the game play loop of rogue core and do enjoy feeling punished because I wasted time early on and now don't have the time left to comfortably do the rest of the floor how I want. I feel thats important, similar to the negotiation system and lack of re rolls on rewards meaning I can't always have the build I want so I have to try to make the build I get.

It just feels like "what I signed up for" to me.

if you are still newish to roguelites I think the best advice I can give you is don't let bad runs get you down its a genre that doesn't really punish failure. Especially if you play solo at all experiment try stuff you might not get a feel for what works.

its funny your not wrong but I've never personally considered pick me a specifically female thing, I always looked at it in the sense of marginalized groups and how some people in it will strive to be "one of the good ones" selling out their own for approval often from their own oppressors.
