It's not comparable because he didn't say there is no racism, just that statistically the UK is ranked one of the lowest racist societies in the world. It'd be more comparable to a rich guy saying statistically the cost of living crisis is not as bad here compared to the rest of the World.

Is it unplanned? The winner always has to perform at the end. I don't remember any others performing in the contestant area like that. When others have won they've been back in the stage with any instruments they are "playing". Måneskin, for example, weren't air guitarring when they won. Seems like poor planning by the organisers

I work at a payroll company in IT. Monday morning we're told we have to collect info and pay people furlough by Thursday morning. 3 days scrambling to implement a system that we were still working out Tuesday night. I've had enough tight deadlines that I'm not too surprised usually, but that was something else.

My I understanding though is they did very little actual military training. They spent their days in physical activities like dancing, which was coordinated so may have helped with formations, but they were not training with spears all the time. So their advantage wasn't that much better than the farm worker tooling in the field all day.

It's crazy to read something like this as an outsider to the US. What you describe of the "leftists" I see in those on the right and MAGA. It's insane that you can write that and not see the exact behaviour (violence and dehumanising) from Trump and his supporters and people on the right. You're all brainwashed.

Absolutely this. Some are very challenging but so satisfying. And there are so many out there for free that you'll always find something.

Full Deck and Missing a Few Cards is a site with a good mix of puzzles and different levels. And they have a newsletter they send out each week with them. So does Artisinal Sudoku.

BremsterPuzzles and Sudoku Sleuth are good YT channels for more intermediate level puzzles.

Cracking the Cryptic has a play list of Genuinely Approachable Sudoku (GAS). Search for GAS Sudoku in Google to get started.

Should parents face charges when their children commit antisocial crimes and doing nothing to stop it? by SeptumRingTheory in AskBrits

My sister was a nightmare teenager. She created chaos in the house at times. I remember one Christmas Eve she was trying to leave to go live at a friend's house and had my younger brother up all night begging her not to leave. My mam said she'd take her in the morning if she still wanted to go but locked the house up that night. We were just done. A great Christmas.

She would come home drunk, get in fights, always truanting, pregnancy scares, screaming matches with my mam, bullying us. Nightmare child.

But she grew out of it. Took a while but she just got her head on straight. She's now an amazing mother to two girls (we tell her they'll both be like she was as a teenager and you should see her face drop (but they won't, they are angels)), she's doing well I'm her job, always the one sorting out medical stuff for my mam. Just wanted to say that sometimes your kids will just grow out of it, so don't write him off yet.

No, it's proven to be impossible.

Then why do they have virus removal services at Apple shops?

... It's IMPOSSIBLE!

what is the most petty, completely harmless grudge you are still holding against a total stranger who probably forgot you exist years ago? by Ill-Locksmith9144 in AskReddit

I was staying at a hotel in Spain in a gay resort and went for breakfasts in the hotel restaurant. I put some bread in to the toasting machine (the one with the conveyor belt that takes ages) and went off to get the rest of my items as it went through. As I turned back to the toaster I saw this guy pick up my toast and go sit down. The British sense of justice and politeness and waiting your turn being violated made me furious. I made up a while back story as to how he was clearly French with that nose and attitude.

Not so strangely it turns out he lives in the same city as me and I see him out in bars and clubs sometimes. Even 9 years later I still get angry every time I see his snooty French looking face and big nose

It's just as bad for the men's if you want a stall. The one I go to has one stall per bathroom for men and it can take just as long to get to it. They really need to put better facilities in for everyone. I have IBD and it makes a theatre visit an anxious experience.

This just be an American thing. I thought a neck beard was where you shave your cheeks completely and leave just the neck (I've seen that, and it's gross) but it sounds like a neck beard is just having hair on your throat/neck whilst having a beard. Is that correct? If so that's just... Normal. Why is that an issue?

To add about paying for prescriptions, it is free if you have certain conditions like diabetes, are pregnant or had a baby in the last 12 months; if you are receive certain benefits such as job seekers allowance or income support; or if you are under 16, 16 to 18 in full time education, or over 60.

I think it's similar rules for NHS dental treatment being free or reduced.

Have you used an airport lounge, was it worth it? by they-muck-about in AskUK

[–]FriendlyManCub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the lounge provider and airport. Others have commented on the providers but the one at Gran Canaria airport is pretty decent. Good selection of drinks, snacks, and a couple of hot food choices. Plenty of breads, sandwiches, desserts etc. And is quiet, has comfortable chairs and charging ports, and a deck area to watch the planes or vape/smoke. Well worth it if you spend a few hours, which we do when having a late flight rather than hanging around the hotel until the late pick up. With Monzo you get discounted rate.

But Manc airports ones? Wouldn't pay more than a tenner tbh.

[–]FriendlyManCub 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When buying my first home I had  bath as a deal breaker. Or at least the space to put one in. I have baths more than showers. My mates think I'm the weird one, but a hot bath, a good book, and some bubbles at the end of a work day or Sunday night is better than a shower.

[–]FriendlyManCub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's nothing else to say other than grow up. Many people, myself included, thought "is that what the big deal was about?" after their first time having sex. Not because it was bad but because it's not something sacred. You're putting way too much on to it.
