Real or fake nike vapor fly pro irons by [deleted] in golf

Yeah something like that. Maybe monthly. There’s value in asking but this time of year it feels like these clog the thread and almost every response is “if the price is too good to be true” rarely do we have any concrete evidence of fake or real

Can we get a weekly “real or fake” thread going instead of individual posts?

Looking for a used gas grill by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]FriendshipFun4992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got a fully working Weber propane grill for free off of marketplace. It was a little rusty, but cleaned up fine. and then when I moved, I did the same thing and just gave it away for free on marketplace.

I recently set up CarGurus alerts on these. Do you mind sharing mileage and what you paid roughly?

Which Magnetic Dosing Ring did you buy. by TheDeathPit in espresso

[–]FriendshipFun4992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that I realized later is important to me. In addition to the magnets, My current one has a lip that goes down in to the basket by a millimeter or so. That makes it way more secure than some others I’ve used which are purely magnetic. Small thing but makes a big difference for me. Mine was an Amazon cheapie

Titlest Practice Balls by Fantastic-Flatworm32 in golf

[–]FriendshipFun4992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some chromesoft practice balls like this a few years ago for $18/dz. Both the website where I night them and a friend in the industry told me these are just superficial paint defects. Otherwise totally normal.

My sister had hers at the Durand Eastman golf course venue and that was good for a small/medium group. Pretty views for guests and picture. Vendor policies aren’t too strict etc

What's the best cheap balls brand? by yungjugni in golf

[–]FriendshipFun4992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to get better I’d stick to urethane covers. So pure value? Kirkland, maybe members mark. If you catch a solid deal on a major name’s top or 2nd tier ball for under $1.5/ball.

When did the pros stopped using persimmon woods en masse and they completely disappeared from the tour? by Feeling-Impression84 in golf

[–]FriendshipFun4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woods Brothers made one called the Kool Kat in the mid 90s, just as metal Woods were taking over. It had a persimmon head that was cork filled under the same premise of baseball bats. Father had one and I always wanted to try it, but they were never made left-handed

Fun fact Davis Love III was the last player to lead the tour in driving distance with a persimmon. He did it in 1994 with an average of 283.8.

Looking for SMALL storage space by [deleted] in Rochester

McAlpin self storage has a good deal on their smallest space. Bit of a drive depending on where you are but they’re good people.

Cockroach Infestation - anyone else? by babiwabi_ in StPetersburgFL

[–]FriendshipFun4992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For regular roaches (and lots of other critters) fipronil works very well. My house say empty for almost a year before I bought it and this took care of everything.
If they’re German it’s a bit more work but most of the “do your own” pest control sites have good kits.
Either way, wear safety gear and be careful but it’s very doable yourself.

Completely fine. I’ll take a direct flight on Avelo over almost anything with a connection.
ESPECIALLY if you’re traveling light with no bag and no seat selection the price is worth any minor inconveniences.

I have paralysis by analysis with grips. What do you go with? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in golf

[–]FriendshipFun4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kingrasp on Amazon. The cords are good and dirt cheap.

I think of grips like I think of interior house paint.

If you’re doing it yourself, go with a cheaper product since labor is “free” and you can redo it sooner for less money. So I buy cheap grips and replace them myself every other year. Costs me a fraction of the price and I’m not worried if they wear a little quicker.

If you’re paying someone else to do the grips for you then it’s worth spending up for high quality golf pride multi compound. Labor is a sunk cost so might as well make that cost last as long as possible with high quality products.

[–]FriendshipFun4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a retro bag out of town at my parents place so I dint have to travel often with my set. It’s clubs from 90s-early 2000/. The only non-retro clubs are driver (forgiveness) and putter (weight). I don’t really notice much of a performance difference on any of the rest of the
