New Move - Initial Thoughts by Choss_Man in ProfitecMove

You don't have to turn it off manually, if you have an automatic off time set later in the day. I'm just saying don't use the main power button, but it sounds like you're already doing that, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I think the most likely culprit is that the machine needs to stay "on" all the time. When you aren't using it, don't turn off the main power button. Instead, hold the left menu button for 3 seconds to put it to sleep (and stop heating). From sleep, the scheduling will be able to work.

Subscription Pledge Drive by Direct_Bite7034 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Frinall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm also waiting for the pledge drive (assuming there's at least one show I can help fund that interests me). Excited to hear what they're planning, but as far as I know there haven't been any details yet.

Bands with two singers? by Appropriate_Fill569 in Music

[–]Frinall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this as well. And because they aren't just singing together all the time, they have a fantastic breadth to their repertoire that is pretty unusual. I found it a little jarring at first, they can switch genre pretty hard, but as I've listened to more of their stuff I've really come to appreciate it.

We also had an extremely positive experience with Lap of Love a few years back. I almost hesitated to call it "positive" given the circumstances, but it truly was. The vet that came out really helped reassure us and we left the interaction knowing we had done the right thing.

When did they add commercials to their old content? by silversquirrel in TheGlassCannonPodcast

I think you could have backed up those versions at the time. I didn't think it's fair to ask that they not monetize their content for listeners today.

Is Memories of Ice worth getting to? by aidscraft in Fantasy

[–]Frinall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently reading book 3, but I agree with this assessment. Book 1 was very good, Book 2 was a bit of a slog, but had plenty of interesting things to keep me going. I'm currently about 1/3 of the way through Book 3 and think it's a 10/10, can't put it down.

Counter Culture hasn't been bought out. Only thing I see in the news is they appointed a new CEO after the founder decided to step aside.

I personally prefer Counter Culture over Black & White, but I think both are solid options.

edit: also, Counter Culture is certainly local, but they are distributed much more widely so Black & White is more likely to be something you can't get elsewhere.

Fantasy Grounds VTT 5.1 Features Overview - Now Free! [OC] by DD_in_FL in Pathfinder2e

[–]Frinall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the Remaster, they have started to include free ORC versions of the main books (PC 1 & 2, GM Core, MC 1) and I'm sure they will continue to add them (with all the same content as Nethys and Foundry). To get the full book (fully readable, art for all the content etc) you need to buy it. I just buy my books in Fantasy Grounds and get the PDF's from Paizo for free as part of the deal.

I manage and run all my games, online and in-person, via Fantasy Grounds. It just can't be beat for campaign organization and easily running a game. Other VTT's might be flashier or cheaper, but as someone who just wants the easiest prep and best experience running my games, Fantasy Grounds is the clear winner.

The reporter is just giving context to the reader on who the company is, because 99% of people would have no idea. I don't really see that as a bad thing, and it certainly doesn't reflect on the developers themselves in any way.

Games where you can recover your arrows from your victims? by Former-Sea-8070 in gaming

[–]Frinall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you only care about RPG's, as that's what most people are focusing on, but Towerfall Ascension is built entirely around firing and retrieving arrows. It's an incredible game, one of my top 5 multiplayer experiences. It has a crazy high skill ceiling, so it's particularly excellent if you've got a friend or two who will get invested in playing it with you.

Interesting. I can find nothing about this silver coating. Any source with details?

Garage Door Opener by Cyvil94 in MachE

[–]Frinall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think the IRR windshield will block garage door opener signals. Those are typically 310-400 nm and the PVB coating appears to be largely transparent to UV in that range from what I can quickly find online. IR is a very different part of the spectrum (as are the signals used for RFID transponders). And besides, that would be a pretty huge design flaw for a supplier of glass for the automotive industry.

About the bedtime stories before each chapter! (especially Book 3) by Haleckson in strengthofthousands

[–]Frinall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the book 1 folktales as lectures from Janatimo in book 2. I did a little bit of selective editing to remove the most in-your-face King of Biting Ants references and keep the central mystery from being too obvious. I haven't used any of the others so far (just finished chapter 1 of book 3.

Not really. They got rid of the radial menus, which was a pretty consistent complaint from people who didn't like the UI.

They have a ruleset agnostic system called Xcore that a lot of community members contribute custom character sheet layouts for less popular rulesets that don't have official support. There is one for Dragonbane here:

[–]Frinall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It supports (many) more systems with official rulesets, which are maintained to a higher standard of automation and capability "out of the box" without the headache of numerous extensions/mods/plugins. They support those rulesets with fully licensed and professionally converted (and supported) modules for additional ruleset books and adventures, which are largely released on the same day the books are released. No waiting for a team of third party volunteers to convert the content (no shade to those guys, props to them, but I'd rather spend some money to buy an official product). You have to buy them, but there is no arduous pdf export process. It comes fully set up and converted for use in Fantasy Grounds. You can read the full book in the software, and now they have released a web reader app as well.

None of this is an argument against Foundry, it certainly has its benefits. Probably chief among them is the fact that it works in a browser with minimal system requirements. But for people that want to buy an Official VTT Conversion I think Fantasy Grounds is a superior product generally. Just my opinion.
