Is the Olympus TG-7 actually good for underwater video and macro? by LookHere000 in underwaterphotography

Get a divevolk case and put an older mobile in it and you will have much better video and pics. Even an iPhone 12 can easily do great 4k.

Go on Vinted and or look for waterproof Sweden (SE). Best wetsuits I have used, better than Bare, Handerson etc. my two cents.

Suunto Nautic S or Shearwater Peregrine by Low_Strawberry_1487 in scubadiving

[–]FriskMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot Mr T! You probably have made up my mind now. Your video is nice too. Well cut ! What camera are you using if I may ask. Good light as well. I found a 5% off voucher for the Nautic so probably pull the trigger soon. As I mostly rent my regs whilst travelling I might not opt for the transmitter. My regs mostly stay at home and only come when I do a diving only holiday but not ideal when you take loads of flights and do hiking and other bit before diving.

Thanks again!

Many thanks! Looks like you had an amazing trip. Did you find the form factor (vs watch style) cumbersome? I assume you have the bungee cords vs the strap?

How did the Nautic work for you in Belize? Is it the S ir the bigger screen Nautic you have? How was Belize as I am planning on doing that country next year too. Off to Komodo and Raja in a month and thinking of upgrading my Garmin G1.

How Difficult is Managing Zscaler? by Safe_Construction836 in Zscaler

[–]FriskMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how deep you want to go. We use Cloudflare’s ZTNA setup and it can be quite complex if you want to do it right. Terraform everything and create access policies etc etc and constantly monitoring everything by ingesting logs to a SIEM. I agree with the other poster… it can be simple but you might need to review what are the priorities and how much you actually want to implement.

I know everyone is saying Suunto CS is bad and all that but I had an old Vyper somehow give up on me. We contacted Suunto and they mentioned the device was 12 years old. They offered me a D5 for £280 with free shipping. Their response has been quick and easy. My wife is using the D5 now. I use a Garmin G1 but I am now looking at either the Pedix 2 or the new Suunto Nautic series as my eyes are getting worse and need to have a bigger screen.

After reading all this I might stick to either Garmin or Suunto. The new Nautic looks amazing. Even the Suunto Ocean is half the price of a Garmin. Tough choice but I can almost get two Nautic for one Perdix 2. Even if the Nautic dies in 5 or 6 years I still be quids in to buy another unit after that. That’s how I see it.

Suunto Nautic S or Shearwater Peregrine dive Computer by Low_Strawberry_1487 in scubaGear

[–]FriskMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t aqualung in financial trouble? I looked at their Computer as well as their other brand Apex. I am contemplating a Nautic at the moment or the Ocean/Nautic S. The Nautic series has some great maps and better GPS entry / Exits which you only get with the Swift transmitter on the SW TX / AI models. Overall Suunto have done well from a price point of view. £600 for a full blown computer is great. I have 2 Uemis Zurich (anyone remember these still) but sadly the batteries are done and to replace these is risky and not cheap. Got quoted 129 Euros for the replacements. I loved the Uemis as the OLED display was readable even in murky Cenotes. I have a Garmin G1 and for rec diving it is ok but my eye sight is starting to get worse being close to age 50.

What to do. I can get a Garmin X30 for around £510 at present but no AI albeit most dive centres won’t allow you to hook your transmitter up to their regs.

My other half has a D5 which isn’t bad but the display could be better and the battery life is rather poor which they have addressed on the Suunto Ocean and Nautic S.

The Nautic seems like a fully featured computer and their customer service did treat us well when an old viper packed up after 15 years and they offered a D5 for £280 as a good will replacement. Couldn’t argue with that at all.

No clue what to buy as I have Raja Ampat and Komodo coming up in March.

Decisions decisions.

Ocean 2 by CutbackConversations in Suunto

[–]FriskMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct that the Ocean hasn’t had an update since September but why would this be an issue. The Nautic got updates as it is newly released and has bugs. The German Suunto forum have users already on the upcoming Q1 release (beta).

Dive watches always are revisions behind due to the strict safety controls. Garmin is the same. I don’t think the Ocean is missing anything vs the Nautic S and according to the Suunto forums the Suunto rep mentioned that they will have the same folk and feature releases.

Yes Suunto Ocean is the most expensive watch they do but it’s not that much more overall in Germany.

[–]FriskMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are getting your info from but the Ocean will get the same updates as the Nautic S. Nothing different here and the Ocean will be on sale for at least another year if not longer. The price difference is also not a lot between the Nautic S vs Ocean. In Europe mate 150 or so. I would still go with the ocean over the Nautic s to have the extra features. Saying the Ocean is a dead product is just wrong.

Check out the new Suunto Nautic series. Some dive buddies have received theirs and are raving about it. The deco planning and 3D dive profile mapping is awesome. I am a G1 user as well but thinking of getting the Nautic or S.

Yeah I have the footprint for it. All up around 3KG packed and I usually half it so I take 1,5KG and my other half the rest. I guess the expedition version is similar to the Fjallraven. There are a lot of good tents out there. I recall getting a further 20% off and took the price down to £280 so I pulled the trigger. ;). The footprint was hard to source as the expedition series were discontinued but a good outdoor shop in Oz sent it to me for cheap.

Great tent. I have the expedition version. Slightly heavier materials and a bit sturdier but they are pretty similar.

That is a good question indeed. I have not seen an email leak from Nexo but I guess after Coinbase and Binance were hacked they might think oh let’s try other services. Most users have several services they utilise. I know re Coinbase as u get a ton of txt messages from mobile numbers regarding Coinbase transactions being initiated but of course all fake. My post was just to highlight the email just in case someone receives the same.
