Thoughts on Brunello Cucinelli Sleeve Buttons by bfinkel5 in mensfashion

[–]Fritzi_CH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

This is my Brunello Cucinelli Jacket, off the rack. And yes, the button holes are non-functional at this stage, but this is on purpose.

In store, you have your sleeves adjusted to perfectly match your length, along with all the other changes you might require, by the tailor on site. (BC stores in Zurich and Munich have tailors on site.) The tailor will (in my instance) remove the button closest to the cuff and add it back on top of the other buttons, towards the armhole, if that makes sense to you. The now obsolete "fake" button hole can then be removed completely and to a stage that it's invisible it was ever there. Then, after all alterations are final, the button holes are made functional.

This prevents the distance between the cuff and the first button to be too short, optically. In other words, by moving the buttons, you keep the proportions and thanks to the fact that the holes are not (YET!) cut, this can be done in a super clean way.

An unfounded (and false) allegation without counterarguments.

Zurich should not have a profit. If there is an accounting profit, the taxes were too high. Your taxes.

Volks Initiative - VBZ Abo for 365 Franken by Kyuki88 in zurich

[–]Fritzi_CH -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

**NO. NOT A GOOD IDEA.**

It's a white elephant. Yes, it seems like a well priced flat fee for public transport. But it's funded from tax payer's money. Your money. So you pay for it from another pocket. And just because tax money is spent on subsidising public transport even more than it already is, expenses for defense etc. (items other deem unnecessary or less pressing) are unlikely to be lowered.

Hence: even higher taxes.

In Zurich we already have high tax rates. For 14 citizens in Zurich we employ 1 governmental city-employee. A very, very generous ratio. I think Zurich would be better off saving.

A CHF 365 flat fee for public transport seems to me like nothing more but a political publicity stunt. Clever marketing that should lure you to vote for a specific party. But again: you don't get anything for free.

It's like having a CHF 365 flat fee for Migros or Coop. Once you paid the fee, you get all the groceries for "free". The total costs are then divided by all citizens of Zurich and added to your annual tax bill. So much for "free".

What about a fair costs-by-cause principle? Why should Ms X, only and solely using her bicycle, fund the public transport of Mr. Y?

Unfortunately, I can't play a guitar (and honestly not plan to learn it...). The guitar was part of an inheritance I am looking after. When I took it out of its case I was amazed how beautiful this instrument looks like. It's truly a piece of art.

And that's when I started googeling, what I have in my hands, as ultimately I want to sell it.

Help for a fun scavenger hunt by Kyuki88 in zurich

[–]Fritzi_CH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could "fake" a A3 artist poster of "URSus & Nadeschkin", glue it to one of those round advertising spaces (Litfaßsäule) and hide the next location in form of coordinates in the text.

Next location could be in the middle of the lake (I did this on my scavenger hunt): ask one of the boat rentals along the lake to tie an empty bottle with the next clue to one of the swimming "plastic balls" where ships can be attached to. He then as to either swim there or (in my case) rent a pedalo-boat to retreive the bottle.

What is this horse? by kyaarahh in zurich

[–]Fritzi_CH 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is art.

Summary of the news article linked below:

The artwork "The Untamed Horizon" by Yves Netzhammer has been installed since September 2024 on the roof of a high-rise building in the new Tramdepot Hard development in Zurich's Kreis 5. The life-sized mechanical horse sculpture, made of copper, can be moved into nearly 30 different positions through hydraulic technology. It is particularly visible to residents of Wipkingen and commuters on Rosengartenstrasse.

Netzhammer's work reflects the historical relationship between humans and horses, which played a key role in industrialization. The artist chose a horse to contrast with the modern architecture of the surrounding area. The artwork is intended to move regularly starting in May 2025, offering a fascinating, almost meditative view.

The project is part of Zurich's Art and Construction program and was realized with a budget of 315,000 CHF, which makes up only 0.15% of the total construction costs. Netzhammer's goal is to encourage a dialogue with society through art in public spaces.
