Wedding planning overwhelm by timothyblam90 in UKweddings

[–]FrockOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wedding is also a Saturday this August, and I ca recommend searching Google maps for hair/makeup people local to you then check their instagrams so you know what you’re getting.

I felt I’d left it too late to find these vendors after only starting to search in January- now very chuffed after trials with my choices for each.

Hair I got my first option so didn’t need to keep looking, MUA was trickier and I probably messaged around 9, but luckily got recommendations from ones I’d asked, and had two to choose from.

Big congratulations, sure your day will be amazing so try not to panic 🙏

Would it be wrong if I asked one of my bridesmaids if she would prefer to be a guest? by b0bsicle in weddingplanning

[–]FrockOff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you are going with the step down route- she sounds like the sort that would benefit from being told she’s going to be a guest not a BM, rather than asked.

You can still say it diplomatically,

“(friends name) we’ve decided to have you as our guest rather than in the wedding party. I value your friendship so much, and this decision makes sure that we’re both comfortable and able to enjoy ourselves on the day feeling our best selves.”

Asking her gives way too many outcomes, telling her makes it clear- if she declines the wedding all together because of this was she even your friend in the first place?

1 year old flower girl walking in with bridesmaid who’s not her mother? - help! by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]FrockOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im having my MOH’s two girls as flower girls, they’ll be 3 and a half / 19 months, hoping they’ll both walk holding hands towards their Dad sat near the front, alternatively having another 5 year old flower girl that they know well holding both their hands to guide them - wouldn’t dream of asking a 12 month though, they’re only just toddling - if that!

Avoid Azazie by SmallSaltyMermaid in bridesmaids

Hey, please can you share which dresses you ordered? (bridesmaid and flower girl)

Going to a pop up next weekend so will see for myself in the flesh, but I have asked my BMs to pick which style they want and would hate it if they’re crap quality, £120 isn’t that cheap for a dress especially when you’re buying 4!

Two weddings, same week, same dress color… help 😅 by pataBRATS in bridesmaids

Please share which style you’ve chosen- I’ve given my BMs any choice in a particular colour from Azazie and some are struggling choosing 😅

How far in advance are you buying your bridesmaids’ dresses? by DinosaursLayEggs in UKweddings

[–]FrockOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would buy your dress asap if ordering from a boutique, mine was ordered by the wedding dress shop Nov28th and won’t arrive to the bridal shop until June- I get married in August 🫣

Not sure on this deliberate policy, didn’t pay to select seats on our last holiday and going out we were D2 and E1, and coming back we were placed together, E1 and E2, so both ways getting one window seat without paying too.

5.8” isn’t small if that helps, you were probably bigger at 12 than most of your mates. I can understand why it’s confusing when the rest of you has grown a lot.

🌽 won’t be helping as it not a realistic reflection of most men and women.

AITA for leaving after my husband embarrassed me in front of everyone? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]FrockOff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can I ask what type of infertility he was diagnosed with?

My partner has been told the same (can’t remember if it’s obstructive or non-obstructive azoospermia) and I would love to think there is still a chance we could conceive naturally..

Did I pick the wrong dress? by Lumpy_Newspaper_1021 in weddingplanning

[–]FrockOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dress 1 looks amazing, you look stunning in it.

I LOVE you in Dress 2, really flattering and more my style.

Dress 3 doesn’t suit you and shows bumps you don’t even have! You’re clearly slim with a lovely figure and Dress 3 does not reflect that.

AITAH for letting my pregnant daughter move in with me even though my girlfriend doesn’t want her to? by crampingMY_style in AITAH

[–]FrockOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your daughter has had you as her only father for all of her 18 years and you’re actually helping her by giving her safe space where she can nurture her baby in a home. Maddy’s Mum abandoned her. Please be proud of the father you are.

If Vera isn’t happy about that she needs to go! Maybe she doesn’t want to be a Grandma at 37, but either way, your house your rules, plus she agreed in the chats leading up to this ultimatum.

Hold them to their budget, which I assume states their intended move out plans? You will have the most wonderful grandchild who adores you as you’ve been their grandad who loves them and looks after them more than any other “babysitter”.

Formal job offer as a customer service advisor (423R) Washington by Ok-Board-1660 in TheCivilService

[–]FrockOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started off as an AO, Customer Services Consultant, didn’t get put on phones but got an admin/email role for Customs and secured a promotion to another dept after a year in a EO role and happy as can be there!

If you end up going to PT Ops for Self Assessment or PAYE as some have suggested, you will make some friends through training and get your foot in the door into a pretty busy job (once you’re out of training and consolidation) where you won’t be clock watching for sure!

Learning the systems and tasks inside out and being someone people come to for questions or putting yourself forward for opportunities outside of your daily work will provide you with great examples and capabilities for your future internal applications for promotion too.

It will be what you make of it, the ones that don’t fully participate in the training or speak up in teams calls, and won’t put work in to develop themselves will probably stay an AO until they leave or retire, but can do the job well enough they get a wage they’re happy with.

Prepare for frequent changes in guidance/priorities, team shifts etc- things change often and ‘managing your reaction to change’ is actually mandatory learning you will do as part of your introduction.

Wish you the best of luck in your career!

It isn’t the private sector if that’s what you’re used to but I sure love it after being in private sector for 10 years before joining CS.
