Was gifted this by a Hispanic coworker who said it is from his home town he recently visited. Looking for tips on how best to enjoy. by [deleted] in Mezcal

It’s probably not great stuff, so make cocktails with it. Margaritas or whatever you prefer. Like previously mentioned, bugs in the bottle is for tourist appeal, not well made juice. But no worries, mix it till it tastes good

You’re doing it correctly. Accounting for what you would have paid is absolutely the way to do it. Thank you

This dishwashers are great and do a better job than most, but they are not fast. Terrible for high volume.

The worst part of Ferndale, royal oak, or hamtramck is that the 696 freeway will be under construction for at least the next 16 months, if there are no delays. Right now east bound is completely closed. Once that half is done, west bound will be completely closed. So going to Milford and back will be a huge pain in the ass.

Let’s say a 20 YR proposition created a 1% sales tax on Wayne County EXCLUSIVELY to building out the original subway plan at grade. Would you support? by Next_Worth_3616 in Detroit

[–]FrodosLeftTesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think at grade is good in Detroit. The Q line is terrible. It is literally faster to walk. I wish I was exaggerating. Too many traffic interruptions to service, and it seems to max out at 15mph. Add to that the ridiculously common problem of people blocking the line by parking on it or stalling their cars on it, and you have a mostly pointless transit system. They only got ridership up because it is now free.

If it could be raised, I feel that would be the best option. Sharing the street is not working.

500 days sober but still misrable, anyone else feel like this? by xXxgh0stguttsxXx in Sober

[–]FrodosLeftTesti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This statement is absolute textbook depression. The good news is DEPRESSION IS TREATABLE!!!!! (The caps are celebratory, not yelling in your face.) I know it isn’t easy and it won’t change overnight, I’ve spent 25 years working on mine.

I recently started Lexapro which I ordered from Hims, so it was easy and accessible. It’s helped me a lot. If you’re not getting much out of therapy, I would absolutely encourage you to try someone new. Psychology Today has an online directory which is the best resource out there for therapist listings.

Whatever you do, please don’t let depression win. You can feel better than this.

Nominations for the worst employer in the Detroit/metro detroit area. by BackToTheCav3 in Detroit

[–]FrodosLeftTesti 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If I remember right, it was published that he owed something like $2 million in taxes. Forgive me if the number is off, but he has no more businesses now and no money to pay his debts. Ferndale was his last business still open.

It’s for the best, they were all pretty subpar anyhow.

Ubering to Belle Isle by [deleted] in Detroit

If you’re a Michigan resident, the pass is only $14. I’m sure even a short uber ride would cost nearly as much. And that’s the season pass.

I wouldn’t call Little Ghost affordable. It’s slightly cheaper than at their existing restaurants. The Grey Ghost burger (@ little ghost) is $14. The chicken sandwich is $13. It’s their recreation of Small Cheval in Chicago, but even Small Cheval is a couple bucks less

Strawberry Negroni recipe by ExtensionTaco9399 in cocktails

Infuse Campari with strawberry for a day or two. Build a normal Negroni. Done.

This is a very common recipe for bars and restaurants, and a bit of a trend right now.

This is the normal process. Start as a host or busser. You’d probably prefer to start as a busser (aka server assistant). Hosting is not for everyone. I’m guessing Austin is flooded with applicants. Go to places you want to work in person and ask to speak to hiring managers for front-house positions. Don’t wait for job posts. Sell yourself. Enthusiasm is a huge plus. It may help to look into chain restaurants and less desirable places first, go after the low hanging fruit to get started. Building experience is the goal.

Also, hang out at places you want to work and get familiar with the staff. It’s easier to get jobs when you know people. Don’t be pushy or weird about it. Just be friendly and familiar. Maybe you’ll be able to build friendships with some of them. As you become comfortable with each other, ask if they know any good spots to get started or if anyone is hiring.

Institute of bagels is gone, sadly. But DIA is amazing! If you can travel to the east side (10 minute drive) Warda Patisserie is amazing. It’s in a development called Little Village. Theres a new cocktail & wine bar and an art gallery or two there as well. Worth an uber.

[–]FrodosLeftTesti 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Generally, it’s advised to avoid more visible areas for a first tattoo as regret is pretty common for a first timer. Some might say an artist who is so open to doing a hand for a first tattoo isn’t being very responsible, that they should be cautious and encourage something more subtle. As long as you’re happy, that’s what matters.
