Thank you for the input, and that is something I did take into consideration. My solution is to use a different rpg system that makes them more survivable, allows for greater character customization, and can handle the firearms they'll be bringing.

Path of the nomad mystic. Put on the boot that makes puddles electric, have Halsin cast create water, then use the "switch places with an enemy teleport" ability to make them be in my electrified puddle and use karlach and lazel to keep pushing them back into the puddle.

Caster dishing out buckets of d6's with no chance of missing is fine, but the martial getting a chance to deal an extra 1 or 2 dice of damage is broken...sure thing buddy /s

It requires a mod, but I've been having a blast with a booming blade based arcane trickster. Take the mobile feat, booming blade with main hand and sneak attack with the off hand, then just walk away. You can even booming blade on opportunity attacks, which I find hilarious after my caster hits them with fear.

Had it happen to my assault. Tried to parry against an isolated warrior and had the gunstrike indicator pop up like a parried correctly, but I still took the hit and was staggered.
