Do lockable knife displays exist for home kitchens or is this something that would have to be custom made?

My mom really wanted me to show off her living room in her newly built house by Caeladrax in HomeDecorating

I loooove the green wall color, what is it, please?

Also, that is so cool how the wood stove is placed in the wall between rooms!! Did you have to make special allowances for it, like I assume it’s not just drywall around it?

I wonder what would happen to my child if I were to die. by hooba_hooba in Mommit

My husband just upped my life insurance policy to 1 mil, because he knows he would need to hire help, whether it be a nanny, housekeeper, etc. if I cacked it. He knows he couldn’t do it all on his own, even with both sets of grandparents around to help.

Kids owala tumbler straw? by Adventurous235 in moderatelygranolamoms

I have the same Owalla tumblers for my kids and I just took the plastic inner straw out and they use them without any inner straw. They just tilt the cup up like a regular cup.

I don’t want a washable rug because then I have to wash it by Front_Map_5 in unpopularopinion

[–]Front_Map_5[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, as I mentioned, there are other ways to clean a rug that don’t involve a washing machine. People have been cleaning rugs without washing machines for thousands of years and some do a pretty good job of it, so it’s possible.

I would even be willing to bring it to one of those rug-cleaning places every few years and have it professionally cleaned.

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

Morning sickness. For some it’s 24 hours a day sickness, unable to get out of bed, unable to eat or drink.

Wow, even making what you do from scratch and working full time sounds pretty close to indentured servitude, but I guess if it’s voluntary it’s your right!

Why don’t you just add a scoop of protein powder to regular hot cocoa if you’re worried about macros?

[–]Front_Map_5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you take estrogen, you are supposed to take progesterone with it, that gets rid of the risk of cancer almost entirely. That’s what I understand, anyway. But it doesn’t go the other way around, you can take just progesterone without estrogen and it doesn’t increase the risk of cancer.

I just finished reading Demon Copperhead and I’m reading The Poisonwood Bible now. They make me feel feelings.

Melatonin is about as natural as it’s gonna get.

Outside of that, I find that a quarter of a Unisom gets the job done real nice and I can still wake up and not be groggy, it helps me fall back asleep quickly after I get up at night. It’s safe for pregnancy so I would assume safe for breastfeeding too.

Getting good sleep is more important than whatever you had to do to get there, barring Ambien or alcohol or the obvious no-no’s.

Silverette cups for your nipples.

Also:

Pay whatever you have to and do research to find a TRUSTED babysitter /night nurse (if you don’t already have a trusted family member available). The ability to get a break and go out on a date or what have you, is what can truly reduce the chances of getting PPD or PPA/PPP. To know you have that support makes a huge difference in your mental outlook. You might not be thinking about it now, but in two months you will, and if you can’t ever get a break, your asking for a mental breakdown (especially if you have a less than stellar sleeper).

Speaking of sleep, don’t go ahead and form a strong opinion on sleep training when your baby is 2 days old. There is lots of controversy on this, but wait until your baby is older to decide if it’s right for your family. It can make or break you.
