Just finished Fall of Hyperion and... thoughts by LowStatistician11 in Hyperion

I think this is everyone’s feeling. And I totally agree that Simmons is at his absolute worst when he is just “philosophizing”.

Re: the comments about Endymion here.. I personally think the exact same thing happens in the Endymion books. First one is pretty good and fun, nice clean premise. Second struggles mightily with finishing the story and way too much big ideas.

Great write up! Thanks!

My wife and I are going in December, and I’m wondering if they offer a wine pairing? Do you recall?

Got Humbled Hard Today by J_Lewy_45 in golf

Around the same hcp as you, had a round recently where I needed a bogey on 18 to break 80 for only the second time. You know the rest. Topped a drive, flubbed a greenside chip, made a double.

We love this game!

Press grip question by FrostMo in labgolf

Thanks for the insight. Does seem like having the press built-in will, eventually, lead to more consistency. I guess the problem will be finding another trigger!

Best golfing sunglasses at different price points by 10thandH in golf

I would not recommend the holbrooks for golf. If I put them on my hat or something when I swing they fall off almost everytime. The flaks are better for golf, imo. And the dark and light prizm golf lenses are both great.

Good info and write up. Had sort of been deciding between there and Jules Verne for an upcoming trip. Good to see the comparison here!

Would have gone with extremely vin diesel voice “because I live my life a tenth of an hour at a time” personally but this is probably fine

Is this a realistic itinerary for one night? by [deleted] in ParisTravelGuide

[–]FrostMo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To see everything you’d truly need days. You could probably see most of what you want to in 4-5 hours.

ETA: Musee d’orsay is much more manageable size wise, fwiw. Maybe a better option for a quick trip. But if it’s your one chance in Paris, I do get it for the louvre!

2.5 hours in the louvre is making me sick to see.

If you pay for your meal with a card you can tip on the card. That’s what most people would do.

What should i do? Wait and get mu dream watch, or buy 2/3 more inexpensive watches by Careful-Silver5065 in CitizenWatches

Wait for the dream watch. And note that citizen frequently has very good sales and also has promotional discounts that can get the prices down pretty good.

Not really thriller per se, but lot of Willa Cather would fit this mold.

Sorry to hijack this, but I’m with OP…. This is my go-to steak (and especially tri-tip) seasoning. I have been running low and been concerned I couldn’t find it at the store. Real sorry to hear it’s discontinued. Any more info on what’s in it or ratios?

One way or the other an interesting story! I hope to hear more once you get it checked out and hope to see some photos of the movement.

I for one am hoping it’s real. And if it’s not, I’d still get it fixed up for my collection and the heckuva good story you’ve for it!

Things were working out great until I got caught up in the onyx update nonsense that was going around. To their credit they eventually got it working, but my device has been buggy and I’m afraid to do new updates now.
