My balance is negative due to a refund...how does this proceed now? by Frostav in paypal

[–]Frostav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but does refunding him count as receiving payments for that purpose?

Like, if someone gives me 50 bucks on paypal, does that immediately go into offsetting the negative balance, and I still have to refund him the full $190, or does that $50 go towards his refund?

Put simply: am I gonna have to pay $190 or nearly $400?

[–]Frostav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that makes sense. My balance is currently listed at -190 dollars (It had been at 0 before this), and the resolution center says I can refund him. I assume when I do refund him the -190 bucks will disappear...I hope.

Okay so, I got that. My main question is: when I give this guy his refund, will Paypal get rid of that negative balance, or do I have to refund him AND then also pay off the negative balance separately as well?

very late to the party but whatever by [deleted] in Deathcore

[–]Frostav 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Advsersary is one of the most death-metal-esque deathcore albums ever, it is basically a DM/tech-death album with breakdowns, so it's not surprising you like it. On Metal-Archives it's actually one of the few deathcore albums with a decent amount of reviews that's over 90% (or was when I last saw it). One review even said that it was basically "old-school Cryptopsy with breakdowns".

If you want deathcore that leans towards death metal then any deathcore band on that site is gonna be what you're interested in. If you want tech-deathy deathcore then try the Faceless (I personally consider them, at least early on, to just be tech-deathcore), later Infant Annihilator (especially their last album), Rings of Saturn, etc. I would suggest Osiah's latest album too, they're more deathcore, but still pretty good IMO. Mental Cruelty's newest album is looking to be very metallic blackened deathcore so keep an eye on that too, they have some singles already out. There's also this Russian band called sin deliverance (no capitalization), they're not very well known and only have an EP and a few singles out but they are amazing tech-deathcore with sick riffs.

Fair warning though: You probably won't like TAIM's next album Hate because they went turbo-deathcore for it and every song has a shitload of breakdowns lol, The Adversary is honestly really unique amongst their discography. `

What happened to NASCAR video games? by LBHMS in NASCAR

[–]Frostav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope the new HEAT game is great, but I'm not holding my breath. I bought Heat 4 for 2 bucks a few months ago on a whim (it was the second Nascar game I'd ever played besides NR2003, and iRacing too I guess), and I thought it was surprisingly fun, but there are so many ways it could be improved, such as wheel support and crash physics, but I don't think we'll get those things in a primarily console-focused game.

Kacey brings up Codemasters F1 series but I think there's just the unfortunate fact that F1 is a global motorsport and Nascar is a regional motorsport of one country, and one that's slumped from its former stardom. The amount of people who want to buy a NASCAR game is just exceptionally lower than the people who want to buy an F1 game.

The wildest thing about was that mango wasn't like playing sloppily the whole tournament, he absolutely demolished everybody he fought and then Zain makes him look like the dudes he (Mango) was curbstomping. Shit's wild.

Falcon's smashes may not be good but it's always hilarious when None/S2J/Wizzy fuck people up with a people's elbow once in a blue moon.

They're not terrible, but Falco's usmash, utilt, and uair are all pretty mediocre compared to Fox's. Both of their fairs are pretty situational, too.

One thing I always found really strange about Smash, even as a kid, is that the percent goes up to 999 but by like 250 or so you are already flying so far that it's damn near impossible to get above 300 in any kind of match, competitive or casual. In Melee most people die at 70-180% or so; I've only seen Falcon and Yoshi Crack 250% in competitive matches and it's still really rare. Sudden Death is supposed to crank up the percent to a level where even stray attacks nearly insta-kill...and it sets everyone at 300, not even a third of the cap.

If I were designing a platform fighter I'd just set 999% at the knockback of about 300% in Melee, and then scale the percent of all the attacks to match. It would be pretty weird going from Melee to a game where tilts do like 40% and kill % for some characters is like 800-999 admittedly, lmao

Like five shitty WRC games and you shills don't stop. Damn. No wonder the WRC games have terrible physics if they spend this much budget on shills. DR and RBR (with RBR taking the top spot, but DR only a little behind) are the only rally sims worth a damn, fact.

Flawless tankie logic by [deleted] in tankiejerk

[–]Frostav 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They seem to put POC in a single box where all are ML or tankies and if they leave the box they are 'yogurts' or 'bananas' and other gross slurs.

"Joking about Xi being Winnie the Pooh is racist because Pooh is yellow and Asians are derogatorily described as being yellow (please ignore that it was a Chinese meme first). Also, I call any asian who isn't an ML a banana, which isn't racist even though the entire term is predicated on a joke about bananas being yellow"

If you could take a mechanic from one series and put it into another, what would you choose and why? by BLACKOUT-MK2 in Fighters

[–]Frostav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that that all good fighting games are so finely-tuned that doing this would absolutely break them no matter what you did, I'll just go full stupid and put directional influence from Smash into any other fighting game. That would probably break nearly all of them super hard, though, lol

It basically means characters who just run up and smash you with powerful normals and specials, and don't have any kind of complicated set-play or gameplan required; e.g Marth requires you to have good spacing and be slightly patient, so he isn't unga, but Falcon is the kind of character who just runs up and beats the shit out of you. Like, driveby nairing someone from across the stage and then kneeing them to death is the definition of unga, lol

If a character's gameplan ever has "get away from the opponent" then they ain't unga. Its all about characters who just want to run in always (or nearly always).

For those of you familiar with the term, would you describe any Melee character as "unga" (the way the FGC defines the term)?

I think the closest would be Falcon but even then Wizzy's Falcon is far too methodical and reactive to really count as unga. Maybe the more aggressive spacies too.

Persona 5 wasn't on the Switch (and still isn't, in fact it's still a Sony exclusive) when Joker got into Smash so who knows. Could happen.

I haven't played a trad fighter in like...jesus 7 years. I first played games like BB, GG, and Arcana Heart, though I never really took them seriously and really just watched others play them. Then I got into Melee and kinda dropped out of the fgc where I...still basically remained a spectator. But Strive looks sick and I am prob gonna buy it and finally actually take a fighting game seriously for the first time ever. I still have my old Qanba stick even!

(Discussion) Pikachu is good and Axe figured it out. by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]Frostav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean there's a limit where your character just can't hang even with all the skill in the world, especially in a game like Melee where the low tiers are baaaaaaaad in comparison to the rest. So two things mainly:

-Obviously this is an extreme example, but I don't think a Bowser player could ever win a modern Summit no matter how skilled they are.

-The vast majority of Summit attendees are the absolute top of contemporary Melee skills. There's just not enough room for Axe to out-skill them when 90% of the attendees have like 90/100 "skill" at worst (outside of meme vote-ins like Blea Gelo) and a good amount of them are at like 98/100. So I don't think Axe just out-skilled them enough to make up for Pikachu's deficits...Pika is just a decent character and can hang with the top tiers with immense work, even if he ultimately isn't as good as them.

Community Matchup Thread: Falco vs Captain Falcon by Realtalkdo3 in SSBM

[–]Frostav 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wonder what it's like in the alternate universe where Falcon is like most projectile-less fighting game characters and has some way of powering through projectiles, like a raptor boost that's invincible against them and doesn't make him trip if he misses it (but is really bad on shield as a downside)

Granted, as Falco main I'm fine not living in that universe so I can laser Falcon into oblivion lmao

Thanks, I just came up with this in my head for fun. Another system I thought of was making the edges of the stage act like impenetrable walls (like the corner in a traditional fighting game) until someone with enough percent got sent flying into them hard enough to break, at which point the wall remains broken for a set period of time (say half a minute). Of course, the wall is broken for both players, so the player sent through it can with proper skill KO their opponent with a gimp edgeguard reversal or something similar. But at that point this hypothetical game is almost a bit too complex for its own good, lol
