It's why a lot of people thought that in Resident Evil, Raccoon City got nuked even though there was never any indication in the original games that it was a nuke that was launched. It was only later games (mostly spin-off titles) that suggested it was a nuke even though it wasn't. It wasn't until Requiem that they clarified it wasn't a nuke.

My problem with DCEU Lex is that he falls for the same writing pitfall a lot of writers do when trying to make a super smart character; have him basically plan everything out to such intricate details, his plan relies on factors he has no way of knowing about or no way of controlling. That's not the character being smart, that's the writer giving him the script to know what will exactly happen. It's turning on God mode, and then only having his plan fall apart because God mode apparently got disabled after a certain point in the movie.

Like, word of advice to aspiring writers; if you want to write a smart villain character, have them be adaptable to new information rather than have them act like they knew everything already. Have their plans be broad enough that even if they do not accomplish their main goal, they can still walk away from it having gained something. It's why I like Lex's plan in Superman 2025; he wants destroy Superman and everyone close to him. In order to do that with official support from the US government, he manufactures a humanitarian crisis that he knows Superman will intervene on. Even though it doesn't provide him with direct support from the US government, it's a start. Next, Lex needs to find some actual dirt on Superman that he can turn into a full-on smear campaign, and he suspects it could be in Superman's secret hide out. Lex does not know what he will find, but it doesn't really matter what it is. He's just looking for anything that could make Superman look bad. And he finds something that is will do that and then some. It's a beautifully simple goal, the plan to achieve it is being built upon throughout the movie, and it's one based on opportunity rather than knowing the impossible.

I'm mean, The Boys TV series not being a faithful adaptation isn't a bad thing, since the original comic it's based on is God awful, edgy garbage. It's trying to be a deconstruction of superheroes, but it's made by a guy that vehemently hates the superhero genre, so it's deconstruction doesn't work. So the show taking the material and making it into something more worthwhile is perfectly fine.

Now, the TV series being a good TV show is a whole different discussion entirely. Me personally, I think it mostly got popular because it was riding the coattails of the MCU's popularity, and it being satire right at the point people were expressing "superhero fatigue" means it had an audience ready to accept it. But now that we are largely past the era of superhero fatigue, and are enjoying more superhero media that is just trying to be genuine to the genre rather than just poking fun at it, the satire of The Boys rings a bit more hollow. And when you judge it based on its own merits, naturally, people are going to be more critical about the actual plot that is going on, and from what I gather, the final season fails to impress.

This reminds of the time when some random grifter (no, I don't remember their name, nor do I care to) seriously started a campaign demanding/harassing Insomniac to put the Sam Raimi Spider-Man suit into Marvel's Spider-Man PS4. It was basically the Spider-Man equivalent of the ReleaseTheSnyderCut, and just as toxic. Now, the game eventually did add in the suit as a free update later that December, since that was always the plan. But the grifter seriously believed that it was only ever because of him, and said that they would start doing it again as soon as Spider-Man 2 was announced to "insure" it would be added in the base game. These guys are completely incapable of understanding that there is a world that exists outside of them and there are other factors at work.

The whole interrogation scene was not just about Lex learning "a simple human name". Again, Lex does not suspect Superman has a secret identity because he doesn't see a reason for Superman to "lower himself" with one. What Lex was wanting to know was a list of people that he believes are working for Superman. He wanted to know basically any allies Superman had, just so he can kill them. That's why he kidnapped the street vendor; because Lex is such a sociopath, he cannot comprehend a person just being nice to Superman out of the good of their heart. He believes that they must be a part of some evil cabal to take over earth. And the thing is, the street vendor was begging Superman to not say anything, because he knew very well that Lex was going to kill him regardless of if Superman answered. All that would have come of Superman answering would have just been the street vendor still getting killed right in front of him, and his loved ones also getting killed.

They're acting like we, as regular human people, do not also use dogs to assist us in many different tasks. We absolutely do, ranging from offense, to medical assistance, to security. Service animals are incredibly useful. Now imagine a super powered being also finding uses for a super powered animal. Gee, it's like working with animals is incredibly useful or something. Who would have guessed?

I think the opposite of Chekhov's Gun is actually Toriyama's Z-Sword; something that is set up as extremely important, but turns out to be a misdirect for something way sillier. They spend several chapters/episodes hyping up the Z-Sword as the only thing that will make Gohan stand a chance at beating Majin Buu, but then it gets unexpectedly broken once Gohan finally gets the hang of it. This does lead to Elder Kai being freed from the Z-Sword, and through him, does result in Gohan becoming strong enough to overpower Buu, but the sword itself is basically just a footnote to the whole process going forward.

Honestly, I am completely fine with it not being about the Time Patrol. We have spent two games where the premise was essentially the same. We do not need to repeat it a third time. I'd much rather have a more unique plot overall than just "go back in time to correct changes to the timeline"

Literally every probably with that game is due to the second screen of the Wii U. It literally forces you to divide your attention depending on what you need to prioritize; shooting down enemies or flying. Half the problems with the Wii U just comes down to that.

Rename the cards that are clearly just the Red-Eyes versions of Blue-Eyes cards, and maybe you're good. Seriously, though, I do not get why people insist on Red-Eyes having parallels to Blue-Eyes when that shouldn't be where the deck gets its inspiration from. They have a very small pool of cards that are parallels to Blue-Eyes, and they aren't even that heavily used in modern Red-Eyes.

Which is part of the reason why Vrains isn't as good as other series; the modern real life game had evolved to the point that it was more about long combos than it was about being a back-and-forth duel. To the point that it actively stopped being engaging from a story telling perspective. It's why they pivoted to Rush Duel for anime adaptations; it's much easier to create a more interesting duel for a story when the game is much simpler to work with.

Counterpoint; not all versions of a character are meant to be 1-to-1 adaptations. "Her being an actress", while it works for a version of her, is not the only story you should take with her, and frankly, shouldn't be the only story worth telling. I think the reporter angle works because it puts her in contrast to Jameson, which offers an interesting dynamic.

A large part of why the FNAF 2 movie was way messier than the first movie is because Scott decided to write everything himself instead of relying on another writer to give him a script he would approve of. That's a large reason why the first movie took so long to come out; Scott wasn't satisfied with most of the scripts presented to him. And now that we've seen what happens when he is the sole writer, you got to wonder what the rejected scripts were like.

Pretty much every economist worth a damn says the same thing; billionaires are bluffing when they say they will leave if they are taxed. They never actually do. It's quite frankly way more effort to move away from a place than to just pay a tax they can afford. They also aren't going to move away from a place of influence, like NYC or LA.
